Hi all

Can anyone tell me what i can take for a headache when pregnant, i usually take Ibroprofen but have heard they can cause miscarriage.
Is paracetamol ok to take?
Thanks xxxxx

I've heard from others on the forum that paracetamol is ok, you are right to avoid the ibroprofen

I´ve heard paracetamol is ok. I hope so cos I´ve been taking it!!!

I had a horrible headache the other night and took paracetamol cause i heard on here that it was ok... but when i read the packet in the morning it says 'consult your doctor if you are pregnant'!!

I havent had a BFP yet, but im really worried now. Anyone actually spoke to a doctor about paracetamol?? :sad1:

I live in Canada and I don't think we have paracetemol here (if we do than I just don't know it) but I do know several women from here from the UK who have taken it while pregnant.

I have been told its safe to take Paracetamol during this pregnancy. Hope you found some relief from your sore head :) xXx

paracetamol is safe, as long as you check the pack and it isnt combined with asprin/ibuprofan etc. and alway follow the dose information exactly.

Paracetemol is fine but Ibuprofen is not.
Ask your dr or pharmacist what painkillers you can take.

If possible I found a quick nap is the best solution.

If you are in the UK try Migraine Kool n Soothe gel pads, you just stick one on your head and it relaxes you. It doesn´t mention on the pack anything about pregnancy so I presume it´s ok. You just look a bit daft with one stuck on your head!!! Like the Karate Kid!

Paracetamol is Tylanol in the US if you get that?

I asked my midwife about paracetamol and she said its fine :)

hiya i suffer from migraines normally and they have been terrible since ive been pregnant - the earlier post about migraine Kool and sooth is right - they have helped me quite a bit, failing that relaxing with a frozen bag of peas on ur head will do the same thing.paracetamol is ok as long as its straight paracetamol not nurofen or ibuprofen or anything.also there is a stick in uk in tesco's and i presume other supermarkets and pharmacies called 4head and its ok during pregnancy too......thats quite good.its all natural and you just rub it across ur forehead.goodluck.xxx

I take Tylenol for headaches. Hope you feel better soon.

I think on the back of the Panadol packs they say to consult a doctor even though Panadol is just a brand name paracetamol. Random but I guess they have to be careful. Although I think panadol do also do paracetamol + other pain killers so best to read the back to make sure.

yeah iv been having bad migranes since being preg and i asked at the chemist he said only paracetimol nothing else x

Paracetemol is fine, I think you can take cocodamol too ? but dont quote me on that I'd check it out first.

I've been using 4head, it does work but only for about 20 mins then you have to re-apply it, but I always have it at work with me for when a headache strikes!

Paracetemol was the strongest thing my Dr said I could take, and I was having the worse migrane ever!!!! I just drank lots of water and stayed in bed, it went after a day and a half!!!
Just don't take too many!!!

Yep I take tylenol if needed for headaches.

Acetaminophen (which is what Tylenol is) is ok to take, its the advil and ibprofen you want to stay away from.
