healthy breakfast?what do you eat that's healthy?

I have granola with sunflower seeds sometimes with lowfat yog, sometimes with semi skimmed milk, today Ive had with it a portion of fresh melon & a portion of strawberries & a small glass of oj.

It is usually enough to keep me full from 7am until 11ish (I go to the gym in this time tko

X x

I have porridge with cranberries & raisins. If I get hungry before lunch I have a banana.

Pre-preg I always used to just have a bowl of cereal, but now I have a bowl of cereal and a piece of toast or a bagel, plus a glass of fresh orange, as it takes quite a bit to keep me full up until lunch.

I just choose healthier cereals and we make our own bread etc to keep it healthier x

if you are trying to healthily cut carbs go for low carb protein shakes. I use body by vi (which is delicious but very expensive) 2 scoops, with half almond milk and half water, a whole banana, and a tsp. of peanut butter. I am usually full for about 2 hours.

My favourite is fruit, usually just grapes, with natural yoghurt in top. I could eat it for every meal! Unfortunately my IBS dosnt like me having too much of the yoghurt though else I probably would eat it 24/7 lol

Things I've been eating for breakfast/brunch:

- Yogurt Parfait (low-fat plain/vanilla yogurt with fruit (fresh or frozen) and muesli) *just watch not to eat too much muesli as that can be sugary

- Fresh fruit of all kinds (especially bananas, oranges, and apples) with a few blocks of cheese (I cannot eat too much nor only fruit as my sugar spikes then crashes so the cheese helps take longer to digest)

- Hard-boiled/Deviled eggs

- Scrambled egg wrap with a side of fruit, yogurt, or veggies (I use multigrain tortilla wraps)

- Omelet (I use about 1/2 of the yolks) just with cheese and marinated veggies (I marinate onions, peppers, tomatoes, asparagus, etc. in some oil olive, balsamic vinegar, herbs and spices, fry it all up in a pan and put in my omelet)

- Smoothies of all kinds (with or without yogurt, sometimes I use almond or coconut milk, other times I use regular skim milk, low-fat frozen yogurt is great too) One mix I like is: banana, peanut butter, spinach, almond milk, yogurt, and ice. *I know the spinach sounds gross but you don't taste it, provides extra nutrients, fills you up plenty, and has a lovely green color :haha:

- Cereal/oatmeal

- Grilled cheese (not the healthiest but you can make just a half with one slice of bread with a side of fruit/yogurt/veggies)

*I personally don't usually eat breakfast much but have been with the pregnancy because I suffer from hypoglycemia and don't want it to be an issue. It doesn't mean I eat a big breakfast/brunch every day. For example, I had a yogurt at 8:25am and then had 2 tuna wraps at 11:30am. I'll probably snack on some fruit with a few nuts or so later and then have dinner and a glass of milk before bed. For me, spreading out my snackings has really helped more than eating less often as I would eat more at once. I haven't really been putting on any weight, just about a pound (I'm overweight to begin with so I really do not want to make things worse). Dinner is always a little more complicated for me but so far things seem to be working. I hope you find some ideas and feel more comfortable with things. :hugs:

Well, today is turning into a bit of a disaster.
Breakfast was 2 weetabix with vanilla rice milk, a yoghurt and orange juice.
I have since had a banana, a handful of raspberries, a packet of quavers, a penguin, a ham and cheese salad and I'm staring at a jam doughnut, which I may put in the bin...

I maintained my weight up to 20 weeks by just eating my meals at a certain time. That way, I eat a certain amount and don't just snack all day like I would otherwise. At 20 weeks, I started cutting out grains because I go way overboard on them... I would eat half a bag of chips (UK crisps) for lunch along with 2 sandwiches, and I'd still be hungry all day long! So, I don't cut all carbs because baby needs 70-100 a day, but I took out all bread, pasta, corn, rice, etc. I eat meat, healthy fats, fruits and veggies (counting 70 carbs from fruits and I know I get more from my veggies). I'm also not eating anything with "sugar" or anything artificial listed in ingredients - pretty much making everything from scratch. I'm taking such a drastic measure to LOSE weight - I'm very obese, so my doctor gave me the okay to lose about 30 pounds.

I AM losing weight with this, and baby is being monitored and is growing perfectly. So, perhaps cutting some of your grains and replacing them with fruits and veggies would help you. I eat 3 slices of bacon, 3 eggs and a banana for breakfast some mornings. Or, I'll eat leftovers from dinner the night before (I'm not really a "breakfast" foods person.)

Also, if you wanna consider timing your meals, try spacing them out by 3-4 hours. I never could because I would get hungry so quickly... but I can now that I've gotten rid of grains because the things I'm eating (fat and protein) fill me up for much longer. Originally, I would wait until 11 to eat breakfast, then I'd have a small snack at 1-1:30, lunch at 2-2:30, then dinner at 6:30-7, then I was done for the night. I still eat on a similar pattern... except I usually don't have a snack now because I don't need it.

Good luck finding what works for you! There are a lot of different tricks out there, but this is what works for me. Every body is different! :)

I have two eggs, two pieces of toast with butter and some fresh fruit cut into pieces. If I happen to have some cream cheese fruit dip I drizzle that on top of the fruit. Then I take my prenatal and my iron pill, but I do find that even that doesn't fill me up and I think my breakfast is way more than anyone's here  Makes me wonder if I'm eating too much even tho I am still hungry and hour later??

I have porridge with blueberries and raspberries, and add in a handful of ground mix seeds for an added boost of vitamins, minerals & good fats.x

Thank you ladies!!! your suggestions really are helpful. I'm crazy over bread and have been eating way too much of it with everything, so need to def. cut that out. I'll be taking some of your ideas....I like the lots of fruits after something else for breakfast. Fruits always fill me up even more and they are so healthy.

I apologise for my immaturity, but I read that as 'for an added boost of vitamins, minerals and good farts', which made me giggle! :haha:

I love porridge with bananas, toasted almonds, raisins and a bit of soft brown sugar; yum!xx

One thing I like to do is take 1 packet of instant oatmeal (usually maple brown sugar but sometimes a fruit and creme flavor) and mix it with one packet of instant cream of wheat. Mixing in some fruit is always a good way to boost it. I like to add banana slices or strawberries if I have some on hand.

It was something a roommate used to do because just 1 packet of one or the other wasn't enough, plus the result wasn't as lumpy as oatmeal or as runny as plain cream of wheat. The first time I woke up starving after I got pregnant I tried this and it kept me full until I got around to a late lunch during a busy work day.

Veggie Omelettes if I have the ambition to cook first thing in the morning. Mushroom, onion, bell pepper and lots of cheese. And yes, a couple slices of toast. fruit and/or yogurt is always a good addition.
