I have just found out I am pregnant after we lost our twin girls, Megan and Imogen in April. They were born after a very difficult pregnancy (my waters broke at 14+5, then I had some bleeding at 18 weeks, then bi-lateral pulmonary emboli) at 23+5. Megan was the twin who's waters had broken and sadly she only lived for 15 short minutes. We were lucky enough to get 9 days with Imogen, but her lungs were just too immature for her to survive.

This baby will be due around April 14th, so obviously there are going to be mixed feelings next April.

I have been told that I will get an early scan around 6 weeks in my next (this) pregnancy. I haven't seen my GP yet, but will do that in the morning. Will the GP arrange the early scan and how long do they usually take to get you an appointment? My husband is going away with work for six weeks on 27th August and obviously we'd hoped to have had a scan by then, just in case of any problems. We're also keen to fin dout how many babies are in there!

Thanks.

Firstly, congrats on your pregnancy and huge  for the loss of your girls :(

They should be able to arrange pretty quick. I saw my MW for booking appointment wednesday, mentioned i'd had some spotting and she phoned EPU and got me a scan for the next day!

Good luck hunni x

So sorry for your loss of Megan and Imogen :hugs: and Congratulations for your new BFP Midori :happydance:

I was told I would have an early scan - I didn't speak to my dr as we just contact the mw where I am - I told them about the early scan and they arranged for epu to call me - they called that afternoon and arranged an appt for 2 weeks later when I was 6+5.

I guess it depends on your area as to how soon they can fit you in.

Hope you get the dates you need

Congratulations on your new pregnancy and I am so very sorry about the loss of the twins.

I think it really depends on where you live and what is available in your area in terms of scans... if you don't get one quick enough you could always get a private scan before your DH heads off for 6 weeks.

:hugs:

Thanks. I am in Northern Ireland and it is really hard to get private scans over here. In my last pregnancy I found out about gender scans and the clinics wouldn't do them until 30+ weeks!!! Early private scans here are 8-10 weeks. :nope:

I saw my GP this morning and she is going to refer me. She said she'd send a letter this week to the obstetric clinic at the hospital and they'd send a letter out for an early scan. I am already 5 1/2 weeks by dates though and my consultant said I could be scanned from 6 weeks. I am also worried I won't get my appointment before my husband goes.

I do also have a lot of cramping, especially to one side, and didn't get my BFP until Yesterday (wee, faint lines on Friday). I did get a lot of cramping in my last pregnancy, but can't help but worry. If I ring the EPU, are they likely to see me?

Hi hun, just want to say congrats on your pregnancy, I hope things go as smooth as they can for you. If you ever want to talk, im always about, i lost my baby girl 2 and a half years ago-she died moments before birth and my baby boy was born in Feb and died 2 days later....and now I am expecting again. xxx

Thankyou for the replies.

Sugarkisses, I can't imagine how worried you must be after losing two babies in those circumstances. I'm so sorry. :hugs:

The EPU rang this morning to say they have a letter from the GP/consultant. They are scanning me at 2pm today. Fingers crossed it is all good!
