Hi all,

Im new to the board. My DH and I have been trying off and on over the past 9 months but from what I've read we weren't timing it right  So this month we've really put in effort to time things correctly (I hope). Im 32 and he's 36 so we feel like time is ticking.

From what I've been reading it's good to have the swimmers up there in advance to meet the egg. Before we were waiting till a positive OV test and then doing it a few days in a row.

This month we've done it as soon as I spotted fertile CM. So we did it CD 12, 13, 14, 16 (in the afternoon) 17 (in the AM) and 18 (in the AM before work) and I received the darkest OV tests between the evening of CD 17 and morning of CD 18 (yesterday being CD 18)

I feel like it's excessive but what we've been doing in the past, every other day or just around the time i get the positive OV test, isn't working so we thought we'd try the most forward approach and get as many up there waiting as possible.

Needless to say, we're tired and need a break lol Should we do it one more time tonight to cover our bases or is it too late at this point since the positive test was yesterday morning?

Thanks in advance for reading and responding!

Hello there!
From what I have read you can ovulate anywhere from 12-36 hours after you get a positive Ovulation test. So if I were you i would continue to do it for the next two days, just to get all your bases covered!

I would do it one more time, to cover bases. If this month doesn't work out for you though, I might switch to every other day until the ov strips turn positive and then BD every day for the next two or three. That way you aren't tiring yourselves out too early in your cycle. :) Have fun!

Thanks for the responses!

We did it on Monday morning before work and then I took at test AT work around 10am and it was just as dark as the night before. Unfortunately we weren't able to do it last night again as we got home from the ball game pretty late.

We will do it when we get home tonight just to be sure but I hope it's not too late :( But I think that would put it at the 36 hr mark from when I first got the positive OPK.

I just hope that after such a good week we didn't mess things up by not doing it when we got home last night. I know we should have but we were tired and it was late.

Trying not to over think things this cycle and then I got to thinking this am. :sigh: there's always next month if this one doesn't take

Although opks are great to let you know you are gearing up to ovul, it us great to follow up and temp to make sure you get your temp rise to confirm ovulation.

I agree! Temping is a great way to confirm that ovulation has happened.

Also, if you have some sperm up there from the days before, you're covered pretty well. The sperm do live for up to 5 days in there, so I don't think you've messed too much up by not BDing last night.

Don't tire yourselves out and try not to stress about it. :)

Good luck!! :dust:

Thanks ladies! We did it last night again just to be sure lol

I've been trying to hold back from temping only because I feel like that will put added stress but if we don't get a positive this month Im going to.

I read these horror stories of women who think they are perfectly healthy and have clockwork cycles and get positive opk tests and then to find out they're really not ovulating at all.

I have clockwork cycles and get the positive opk and my doc says he's not concerned (was only trying for like 4 cycles at my last appointment) and also to stop with the ovulation kits because people tend to over analyse. lol He said he doesn't worry until we've been REALLY trying for 1 yr.

So, now we're in the TWW so we'll see :)
