I'm so addicted to breast feeding Mia!! I love the closeness and the bonding. I'm actually honestly dreading that she is getting interested in food and that when she starts eating solids she is going to start dropping feeds and i'm going to lose that time with my daughter. I always knew I wanted to extended feed and said I would stop her probably around 2 1/2 ish but I just can't envision stopping.

Am I crazy? I never thought I would be so addicted to this time with my daughter that the thought of it stopping is honestly depressing. Please ladies tell me i'm not alone!

Um, yeah- I totally get the feeling, too! Although, Matthew hasn't really dropped any feeds since he started solids yet. At this point, though, I wouldn't mind if he dropped a feed just so I can have hands a little freer to get a little more done! But when everyone else keeps saying how they are looking forward to when they're one and can stop BF, I think there's something weird with me that I just want to continue for awhile!

My MIL had 7 kids, her youngest is now 15, and she told me she misses BF even now sometimes!

As somebody who still BF with my son being 16 months, I understand. Though the only downside is people attempt to make me feel like shit because I am "extended BF, (though the WHO recommends 2 years) saying there is something wrong with me for feeding this long. I do not want to stop yet! My son loves the calming effect and milk more than anything else. I hope you continue for the amount of time you plan to!

I felt very much the same when Alice was little. I used to cry thinking about her weaning. She's still nursing now and she's 4 this month, but the attendant emotions are very different. When she stops, I'll know it's the right time, and I think I'll be happy - maybe even relieved! Some (ok, let's be honest, most!) people will have reached that point earlier, some would be later. There have been times when I wished that she'd stop, which was unimaginable when she was a baby.

I guess, in my rambly way, I'm trying to say that breastfeeding journeys have a whole load of emotions involved, and they alter over time. Just enjoy the stage you're at, and be open to whatever comes.

I know, right! People expect you to up and stop when your baby hits a year! I hear people say they don't want their child to be old enough to ask for it...ummm, but they're able to ask for it way before that just in their own way! Now Matthew is learning the sign for milk because I want him to learn better ways to ask for it.
