Help me please!

Alex arrives on Friday, and I hope to be home with him at the start of next week. Our frigging car seat, however, won't fit in my car because the rear seat belt is too short!

I have a Silver Cross Ventura Plus car seat, but that's not really the problem - the problem is my Honda Civic and it's rediculously short rear belts :(

I think we'll need to get the seat belt length professionally extended - does anyone have any idea how I can go about this?

I have thought about buying a small seat belt extender, but I'm not really sure if they are safe, and it appears that you can't get them for Civics anyway.

The belt IS longer in the front passenger seat, and the baby seat fits in the frint ok, but we would need to disconnect the airbags to use the seat in the front and I don't know anything about that either?

I could cry. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

We have this but have not fitted it yet, our 2 friends have this and fitted it with their babas 3 weeks and 5 weeks ago, they found this in their car until they found out one of the diagrams from the instructions were misleading and only went through one part instead of both or something apparently.
Dont know all the details sorry but it is more than likely it is being fitted wrong due to the above rather than seat belt problems
Hope this helps

Update: Just found youtube video of fitting instruction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywfs03DFDOM

You might have just saved me from a total breakdown! DH is on his way out the door to test it now - we too were putting the belt through the two bits at the back but the video says you only put through one. Will let you know if this works. THANK YOU!

Our truck has really short seat belts, can just about get it to fit with a lot of tugging and grunting!
But what about a isofix base i think its called, i have one for the car, its great, just plonk the car seat in it, dont need a seat belt, they are rather expensive though, think ours was about £80??????, but you have to check it will fit your car, has to have a bar init but it does tell you what model cars have it!
Downer for me was it didn't fit in the truck! one out of two isn't bad though!

It fits!!! Thank you so much!!!

I'm so glad I posted about this, because if I hadn't know about that instruction video I would have probably spent tomorrow phoning round companies to try and get the belt extended! I was flying into a real panic over this.

I can relax now, til Friday anyway!

Thanks again.

I've seen quite a few threads where women have said they've had problems with this carseat... that youtube video will hope loads of people if they are made aware of it!! x

Can you re-post the Youtube Video?

I can't watch it.

I can't watch it either.

This thread has made me realise I haven't even tried our car seat in the car yet

I have that car seat as do several people that I know and I have only known it fit in a little Citroën and a VW golf with the seat belts. I ended up buying the isofix bases, which in fairness, I love. It's notorious for it

We had this problem with our first baby! We have a different car now so thank you for reminding me to try the car seat in advance :haha:

I didn't find a solution apart from buying a new seat. Nightmare. I think it was the silver cross one that I couldn't fit in my car too - they must be slightly bigger than other seats. I ended up getting a graco which just about fitted.
