Hi as some of you might know im T'elles husband - Chris!

I was just wondering if anyone couldh help, basically you prob know the jist of it already but my wife and i have been TTC for 3 years now and not had any luck

I had a SA done back in April and the results were a phone call from a receptionist who said it came back 'fine' that was it... is it just the once you have it checked and is there anything else i can do to help ...we really want this so much!! :cloud9:

Thanks
Chris

Sorry Chris I am not sure what you can do to help. My hubby had one SA done and they did a second one 3wks after his first to double check everything was still great.
I know there are vitimans men can take, but since your sperm is fine, I am not sure if they will do anything extra for you.
Hopefully some ladies here can offer you some good advice. I think it is so wonderful your fully involved and asking questions about what else you can do to help your wife conceive.
Good luck to you both and I hope you both get your BFP soon :hugs:

Hi Chris,

You should make an appointment with your GP who can get the results up on their screen and explain them to you in detail. A 'fine' result doesn't necessarily mean perfect, it will mean that the results fall with in the parameters of what is considered good enough to conceive.

My hubby takes a multivitamin with extra zinc every day, and I have also heard that pure vitamin C can work wonders for the swimmers.

My hubby did 3 tests as they say the results can vary each time, which they did. We never got a definitive 'the results are fine', as each time either the motility, ot the normal forms were down. (have since been told at our fertility clinic that they don't consider the 'normal forms/morphology as an indicator of fertility anymore).

Good luck and make that appointment so you can have the results clarified.

Hi

I our experience GP's are not that good at interpreting SA results. We were also told by the GP it was fine but we demanded a copy of the results and when we looked at it and compare it to some other peoples figures on here (and eventually showed it to FS), it was anything but fine!! Not meaning yours won't be ok but I'd def get a 2nd test done now and actually ask to see the results.

Little things such as a cold or heavy drinking session can seriously affect results and will take about 12 weeks to return to normal.

Good luck!

Hi Chris,

I totally agree with what Mrs G said, a GPs fine and a fertility specialist fine are two very different things. It may well be fine but for example my OHs SA was said to be fine by our GP but when we spoke to FS for IVF they told us that although the count was OK and we had borderline morphology and mobility, it was all sticking together so the sperms that could swim in the right direction couldn't get through if that makes sense. You are entitled to your results so start nagging them.

Lastly just wanted to say how fantastic it is too see a man on here asking questions, good for you x

Thanks for the replies.
My Wife called up the IVF clinic and they said theres no point in doing any further tests because if nothing had happened by the time she is 23 they will have to repeat them again and its a waste of resources!!! i cant believe it im so shocked.

Will i be able to ask for another SA from my GP?

Thanks.

Yes you should be able to or you could pay privately which I 100% recommend if assisted conception is the path you are going down as they look at things a lot more intensly (sp sorry!) and look at things the NHS doesn't. At my clinic it costs £80.00 but pretty sure Wales is cheaper... everything costs more in the south lol!!

My DH took Zinc for a month and we got our BFP. Also he cut out Diet Coke and also coffee and beer not that he drank that much anyway.
We was TTC for 3months and then we fell pregnant the 4month we did take Clomid but also did the above

Good Luck x

Only a FS can explain them to you a dr wont have much knowledge on them, the FS is right tho they wont do anymore because telle aint old enough.. i no that first hand aswell.

Hey Chris

We got 2 from our GP before our referral to the fertility specialist.

I would book an appt with your GP to go over your results and ask if they would recommend a futher SA. Ideally you need the tests to be done 70-90 days apart to reflect any sperm changes as they take that long to mature.

My DH had very low count so we made lifestyle changes, weightloss, no baths, Wellman multi vits and vit c, maca and his count is now doubling. More importantly he has above average motility and morphology which is just what you need!

Good luck - hope the GP helps and can give you a good idea of the exact results :hugs:

yeah i know we cant get help from the FS but we aint gonna give up :( we are trying to do all we can to help ourselves we deserve it, i just wish there was something i could do to stop anyone else having to go through the same thing as i am.... x

Hi

I do agree with what krissi said about going private. We paid for our initial consulation and tests which then got the ball rolling a lot quicker that the NHS would have done. We only had the initial bit private then the rest on NHS. Try GP again, they must realise that one test on it's own means nothing, you need to get a pattern. If no luck there then, if you can afford it, see about private.

Lots and lots of luck to you both, I know how hard it is, but it WILL happen for you.
xx
