Hello ladies,

I had a natural miscarriage on the 6th of March. I was 8 weeks pregnant at the time but baby only measured around 5 weeks. I actually saw the fetus come out in my bathroom and after an ultrasound my Dr told me everything came out and I only bled for a few days after that. My husband and I had sex on the 18th of March and have been ever since. My HCG was 54,000 before my miscarriage.

I did a pregnancy test yesterday since it's almost been 4 weeks and I expected it to be negative, but it was positive. Had bloodwork done this morning and I have an HCG of 244. My doctor said it should be under 100 by now. Is it normal to have an HCG of 244 after almost 4 weeks ? Or is it possible I am pregnant again? My Dr said to go for an ultrasound if the number is over 100 but I can't go for a few weeks and the wait is going to drive me crazy!

Any advise would be great!
Thanks xxx

hello!

I wanted to comment because after my ectopic, my bloods were tested weekly until they made it down to 0. There is definitely a chance that they could still naturally be at 244 from starting at such a high number of 54,000, but there is also still a chance that some pregnancy tissue (not the fetus itself since you saw it ) could still be left inside. They were testing my levels down to 0 for that reason. I guess it's very common. So might be something to ask doc about! some women have to get a d and c after a natural miscarriage if all fetal tissue doesn't pass. I would think the most unlikely scenario is being pregnant again just because with levels that high, they do take some time to fall to 0, then ovulate, then get a pos HPT.

I am so sorry for your loss but hope this can help a little just to make sure that your doc is not taking things lightly! women with fetal tissue left inside them can end up hemorrhaging in attempt to get them out. good luck!! :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:
