I had my son early at 33w6days... so had to pump to provide the milk for him in the nicu... Started with the preemie setting on pump at the hospital, which worked fine. Milk came in on the 3rd day and quickly increased in volume by the 4th day when I was discharged and went home.

Problem is that my home pump is EXTREMELY powerful even on the lowest setting... so it's been signaling my body to make more milk than my babe would ever need at this point. He's 10 days and I'm producing 4 ozs at each session, which is 3 hours apart.

Last night my boobs started auto-let down around every 2 and half hours... it is PAINFUL let down... and milk just leaks out. I feel engorged an hour after I pump... and think I might have clogged ducts... sides of my breasts hurt really bad. but because I'm engorged, I have to keep pumping every 2-3 hours. And I feel the need to pump past 5 minutes because I want to get to the caloric hind milk.

I didn't have this with my first child, who I exclusively breastfed because I was able to supply what she demanded.

I still don't have my boy with me so I have to continue to pump for at least a few more days but... help!

Any tips??? What to do about the clogged pains? the leakage? the really painful let downs? how to decrease my supply without risking mastitis?

I brought 12 bottles of 2 ounce milk in the nicu last night and the nurse exclaimed: "wow, you could be a donor!" lol
