help me clean out my washing machine!

ok im having the same problem :(
sammy kindly recommened her thread to me, ive unscrewed the black plug but it wont budge ive tried pulling and twisting but its not coming off bloody thing :(

your def turning it the right way hun arent you- i love you, but you have been known to be a tad daft soemtimes. :p x

Hm, I dont know Is it an old washer? Maybe the rubber seal has rotted and got stuck? But if that was the case, I think the filter would leak. Are there TWO things you can open? like on my pics?

errrrmmmm well its a long panel that goes right across the bottom and when i took that off there was a black plus with screws in each corner, i unscrewed them and the black plug thing was wobbly and i keep trying to twist but its not budging maybe im not strong enough :/

I put soda crystals in with most washes and they work as a water softener as well as keeping the machine clean inside. I also put vinegar in the fabric conditioner section whenever I am washing whites, it softens towels etc without reducing their absorbency AND cleans any scum from the metal parts of the machine too xx

Ohh, I dont know. I wouldnt have thought you'd have to take a screwdriver to anything because youre supposed to be able to get to it quickly. Have you got an instruction book? And if not, give us your model and model No and I'll have a look online. Thats where I got mine :)

vix - it could be that your filter is really rammed with stuff
on our old washer it was like that. hair grips and everything!

You can get a specialist solution for doing service washes I wouldnt use detergent as this can clog it up even more. I used bleach in mine though as I couldnt afford to buy the proper stuff, although you are not meant to. Soda crystals and vinegar as others have mentioned also good at disolving all the built up residues. So long as the wash is hot enough and you run it on empty. Also check your filter and pump is not blocked with hair clips, money etc. you unscrew it at the bottom of the machine and it pulls out.
