Ok, so my due date is 5th September officially, but going by my confirmed ovulation date of 18th December its actually more like 10th September!! but the 5th Sept is what the scan says so thats what they will roll with.

Now, i have to have a C section, I had one 2 years ago due to placenta praevia so had no choice, this time i do have a choice, but i've been advised by both Consultants to go for the C section, Im high risk and the thought of a failed VBAC is NOT GOOD, 4 friends in the last 2 months have had failed VBACS with not great recoveries and re admissions to hospital with infections!!! to me its no biggie to have an elective c sec and im happy with that!

Now comes my dilemma....they book you in the week before the due date....ie the date i have so far is 31st August!!!! I realise its a long way off and i may have a child genius, who knows but I really dont want them to be the youngest in the class seeing as im given the CHOICE at the mo. If baby has other plans then so be it.:flower:

Would you request the 3rd September (1st and 2nd are weekend and no electives) and still think its doubtful to have gone into labour?? Bearing in mind i have never been in labour as my last LO was a preemie and C sec. Or would you just roll with the end of August regardless?

What happens if i go into labour before...do i get rushed through for the section?

Not seeing the consultant for a bit so thought id put the question out there!!

Thanks!!!!!

Hiya Beachlover1 (I like the name), My c-section is booked for 37 +6 days this time round, so I will be having my section on the 7th September. my due date is the 22nd September. Truthfully I would have liked to have my baby in August, so it went a bit early to school, so that I might consider going back to work. My first daughter was born in May, so she went to school early. My second and third daughter went to school late, they were born after September and i felt they were ready for school very early on. I guess some children be ready quite early on to start school and some don't.

If you do go into labour earlier than your due date, they may wait and see if you progress. For my second child, I had to wait and see if I was going to dilate. Unfortunately I did not, my baby became tachycardic, her heart rate went up to 200 beats per minute so I asked them if i could have a casaerean. At this point i had been in labour for 36 hours. So, my midwife went to ask the cons and she came back to prep me. After I had the section, the midwife said, you made a wise choice to have the section due to my baby's heart rate going too high. In your case if the consultants are saying that a C-section will be better for you and that they don't want you to go for a VBAC, they may take you in for a section straight away.

I hope this helps x

Personally I would stick with the end of August. But I am impatient :haha:
I would go by your EDD that the scans have estimated too x

I can't answer for your elective date although I do understand your dilemma my consultant allowed me to pick my date (which was great!) and we scheduled for 1st June (39+4) although LO had other ideas and I went into labour on the morning of 31st may!

I just had dh timing my contractions (they happened suddenly and were 3 minutes apart and 40sec long within the first 20 mins!) so I phoned l&d and told them that I was in labour but had an elective section booked for the following day, I was advised to go in where they checked me over and confirmed I was 2-3 cm and we discussed what I wanted to happen which was a c section which went ahead at 14:15 that day so Finlay arrived a day earlier than expected! The only difference is that it became classed as emcs as I was in labour!

If you go into labour make sure you phone l&d early to give yourself plenty of time to get there and get organised (my section would have been done 2 hours earlier but I had eaten breakfast :dohh:)

Good luck x

In regards to school, you could always hold off a year on enrolling.g if you feel LO is not ready.

DD is an august baby and the youngest in her class. But she's shown to have superior communication skills to kids almost a year older, was one of few potty trained in her class, and recounts numbers, letters, shapes, songs, etc that I never dreamed at her age! Her teachers are impressed too. Her social skills are a but behind the older kids though, so that is the down side. At this point I expect to enroll her in kindergarten on time, but am open to holding her back if there's a compelling reason.
