HELP!!! Mercury dentistry while pregnant :(

I should add that I didn't have any problem with the people who posted their experience working with this amalgam. It is simply upsetting that people expect that once they have told someone not to worry that that person should stop worrying, and if that isn't the case they get offended. I was not trying to offend anyone who said I'd be fine. That was very nice of the dental hygienists to chime in with their experience. I'm just still looking for a more academic reply. I get that this is not really the place for that. I guess it's just the first place I turn when I have pregnancy issues. In the end, if someone finds they have something to add, great. If not, I'm still doing my own research and I'm consuming high-sulfur foods, etc, trying to detox after my exposure today.

Ouf! I'm stuffed after snacking on fresh avocado, garlic, cabbage and cherry juice. My OH has gone all out with researching this. He's a champ!

Please don't "detox" with chelating agents/ tablets. That maybe the worst thing that you could do while pregnant!

Also if you want real evidence about SMALL constant exposures to mercury and have access to full journal papers please review the evidence on medical/ dental care workers who work with amalgam/ mercury products and their child/ baby outcomes. They have lots more exposure than you had in one visit. There is NO evidence of increased birth defects. Please stay away from google or Wikipedia - there is sooooo much bended truths on the sites.

Your mercury exposure was "highest" ( it was such a small amount) when it was being removed and placed only. Now it is it's most stable form. Eating seafood especially tuna during your pregnancy gives your baby a higher dose. Everything with toxicity is relative.

Here's a true statement that I could publish - WATER is toxic!--------(but at certain levels). Everything is relative to amount.

The filling has been done. There is nothing that you can do now to change anything for the better so try and let it go. "Detoxing" ( especially with chelating agents) wont help but possibly release into your blood stream a high level of toxic substance from all the toxic metals you have ever come across in your life. If you don't let this go you will do baby more harm with the stress you are under. Stress has been proven to affect the baby.

If you have a real concern about mercury and your baby then have no seafood at all and stay away from omega 3 capsules ( I don't really believe that you shouldnt eat it because in my opinion the goodness in seafood outweighs ANY potential risks.) But relative to the filling you had the mercury would be higher.

yes it is true about telling someone not to worry and them not worrying is hard. Do the research I recommended and remember its done; nothing you can do to change things for baby- It's hard because it has upset you but Let it go.
Good luck- I hope you feel better about things soon. x

yes, I have read that. I am eating foods that are detoxifying in that they are sulfur-containing, but not taking the more serious tablets.

I am not that concerned that there will be a noticeable birth defect. Just because it doesn't appear anything is wrong doesn't mean there is no effect. It is said that mercury exposure causes impaired neurological development in fetuses. Now, it will be hard to know if these children aren't as smart as they would have been without having had that exposure. I am able to weed bended truths from real data. Google is a powerful tool and it guides my research. I do have full journal access and read up when I find relevant citations or leads.

I feel very bad for dental professionals to be going through so much exposure. I can tell you that this facility was not well-ventilated. That poor tech. The dentist makes his choice, it is his office and he is able to stop using those fillings or at least provide better ventilation and better measures to keep exposure down, but she is just trying to keep a job. That's not right!

Are you sure that eating tuna gives higher exposure than getting the fillings placed and removed? I see lots of sites touting that having a filling is not as bad as eating tuna daily, but they don't talk about the exposure when the filling goes in and comes out, which is clearly more.

lol! Yes, I am aware that everything is toxic and it depends on concentration/qty. I took a course in toxicology, actually. Water being toxic does not concern me. I did not over-drink water. And, water toxicity is acute. I am either sick or I'm not. It's evident. Mercury, otoh, may be affecting me imperceptibly. My fetus as well. It could be doing neurological damage to both of us right now.

The filling has been done. There is nothing that you can do now to change anything for the better so try and let it go.

It does seem that's the case. I am still doing what I can do understand what, if anything, I can do to minimize any risk. I did swallow mercury today. That's concerning. There is possibly a conversion going on in my system right now whereby it is forming methymercury before passing through. It seems probiotics may help this. I have taken some today and will continue for awhile, just in case it helps. There is no reason for me to simply accept my fate. It just happened, I am still being exposed as we speak. It is important to combat this to the extent possible while I have that ability.

I would be more stressed if I were not doing what I could to keep toxicity low. Trust me. But, that is just me. I am learning and taking action, not just sitting here stressing out. It helps.

Well, I only eat small fish because large fish accumulate a great deal of mercury. I take omega-3 that is purified by multiple distillations to remove mercury. I hope that helps. Again, I would love if you could send me the source you are using to determine that eating fish is more exposure than getting and removing an amalgam filling. Truly. Thanks. :)

Thank you. I will do what I can to get this stuff through my system with as little damage as possible. In a couple of weeks I will resign myself as at that point I'm sure I'll be in equilibrium where nothing short of real detox pills will help, and, as you said, that may be more dangerous from what I have read. This, too, shall pass.

:)

Your seriously coming to an online website dedicated to women trying to get pregnant and who are pregnant for facts on mercury?? Your so incredibly intense stating you don't want to be told everything is ok or to be told your fine and your looking for facts. Why on earth would you come here? We support each other here in our pregnancy ups and downs we aren't medical professionals who can give clear cut answers so don't berate those who are trying to help.

Secondly you dont trust the FDA and only want journal information then go get that information. And dont think that every school and every study isn't funded by someone with a motive or an opinion. Nothing is unbiased these days. You have to draw the line somewhere.

Thirdly, if you use wireless, cell phones, drive a car or even walk on the street your ingesting toxins. Exhaust fumes and pollution are dangerous, holding a cell phone to your ear is dangerous. Please be careful of what your focusing on. I understand your upset and worried but personally, and I'm sure others would agree, it seems slightly out of proportion for what your dealing with.

hi there, I have also had concerns in the past about my amalgam fillings... so before I conceived I took chlorella supplements and also still do along with eating a lot of coriander. Both are extremely good natural chelating agents. Have a read online about how good they are for detoxification and are both naturally safe to eat during pregnancy. Hope this helps XXXX

have a read...

one paragraph of particular interest :

Metal Magic is made from two simple herbs: cilantro and chlorella. Alone, each of these has the ability to bind with heavy metals, and together they make a very powerful metal detoxification substance that can literally pull mercury, lead, cadmium, and other heavy metals right out of your body, thereby sparing your body the damage that would normally be caused by those heavy metals. This is potentially a life-saving product, and it can certainly save the health of a fetus, if you happen to be pregnant or you plan to have a pregnancy in the near future.

Thanks, Kismo. I read about cilantro and parsley being good. I have picked some up, but the supplement is probably more effective. I'll give that a read. :)

Alwayspraying, please get over yourself. If you have nothing to add to a thread don't go into it just to complain about the way some person comes across to you. Your opinion is simply not that important. Really. I already stated that I had clearly posted in err here, and that if someone had something to add that was helpful that was great, but I wasn't counting on it. Still you felt the need to come in here complaining about how I am too intense and am coming to the wrong people for help. Did you think I would actually care for your opinion, or are you just trying to get "thanks" from other people because you've come to their rescue? lol!

That's the funny thing about a public forum like this. We all have opinions some we agree with and others we don't.

Take your own advice and get over yourself.

Jeez oh so blessed! Seemingly you are faaaar toooo superior for this forum and know more than everyone else. I truly and rather stumped by your arrogance.
You've asked for help and support. People who work in the industry have answered your call. You've completely laughed in their faces (and yes, you did. in one comment you put ahahahah). Totally inappropriate.
My opinion (that I am more than entitled to) is that you should find a forum full of people who know absolutely everything - just like yourself.

Wow lots of hormonal women! I wouldnt worry to much about the mecury there prob is more in fish then what your filling had in it..... Pregnancy is supposed to be a happy time with no worries... Yes I have eaten fish Yes i have eaten a runny and Yes I have eaten a medium rare steak... People really need to get over themselves and enjoy there pregnancy... BTW you wont get a dime from the dentist... They also make you sign something before they do anything to you! It is just like the hospital does! Just WOW!
Anyway if you followed everything everyone said you would not be eating or drinking anything
