Hi ladies,

I hope you don't mind me popping in here as I'm looking for some advice and I don't want to offend anybody.

I'm 32 and DH is 35. We're just about to start TTC. My cycles have never been exactly regular but did fall into a 30+/-2 zone. However, in July my cycle went 34 days and then last month 38 days. The weird thing is that even in the cycles that were longer I have EWCM at a normal kind of time (and therefore have had apparent luteal phases of 20+ days). I went to the Drs today just to see whether I should be concerned. I ended up seeing a newly qualified guy and he had to speak to his supervisor. She advised (due to my age I guess) that I should have a bunch of blood tests done to see whether I am ovulating and what's going on.

So I'm having FSH, and progesterone plus some others (including prolactin I think), but the Dr has booked me in for them all on CD19. I think they are most interested in the progesterone levels, but I'm wondering whether I should be having some of them at the start of my cycle? What will they do if I'm not ovulating? I'm already on CD10 so CD19 will be here before CD3. I'm just a bit

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer!

That sounds odd, but maybe there's a reason he specifically wants them on CD19?

I had all the bloods done on CD4 then the just progesterone done on CD21 xx

I know it's a CD 21 test but as my cycles have been so variable he guestimated to what turned out to be day 19. But not sure why they're all being done together. He told me he was new so I hope he's not just bodged it all up!

You want that progesterone one done roughly 7 days after ovulation or else it will be pretty usless. You will just have to use your best "guess" when you think you ovulate and then get them done 7 days after that day. Otherwise your levels could indicate you dont ovulate when in fact you could just ovulate later. Do you get any signs of impending O at all like twinges in your ovaries or your cervical mucus changes??

The pp's advice is good. To be extra sure of OV - use opk's twice a day (late morning and then again in the eve).
After you see the surge monitor cm - should get drier after O - about 2/3 days after pos on an opk.
G'd luck:flower:

Got a +ve OPK this morning. Dr has rearranged tests for a week tomorrow. Progesterone is most important. Others can be repeated if anything odd shows up apparently.
