Hi all,

Very new to this forum so please help if you can! Here goes....

History

I am 27 years old, I was on the pill for 10 years and came off the pill on 14/10/2008 and had my first period on 28/1/2009 a massive 3 months later! I then had a 7 day period and another gap of 35 days off ( So roughly a 42 day cycle) I then come on 13/3 for 7 days and havent had a period since!! So 65's off to date!!! If I come on tomorrow (23/5) It would be a 73 cycle but I have NO symtoms so am not holding my breath!!

I have used Ovulation tests, temp charts and all sorts but have had no pattern! The only pattern I had was during my 42day cycle where my temp went up and down like a 'Normal' cycle and it seemed I ovulated and had sex at the right time so was thinking/hoping I may have struck lucky... However....

I also used the Clear Blue fertility monitor for 2 months too but it only highlighted Low-Med chance of conceiving! Never high! I went to the docs around 24/4 and he said to scrap all the Temp charting, moitors etc and just chill/relax and let nature take its course... The thing is I havent been stressed, I sleep around 7hrs a night and only work 3-4 days so am not stressed at all! I have taken 2 Preg tests 24/4 and 21/5 both stating Negative.... I have not really had many symptoms to suggest Pregnancy except extreme tidyness, bloated tummy etc but in reality this could be anything!

Sooooo could I please have advice on:

* Has anyone else expereinced any of this??

* Does anyone have any answers??

* I have heard a few women say they have had a similar thing with Neg Preg tests until they tested around 9weeks to get a positive! Has anyone expereinced this??

* I had breast enlargement back in Sep 2007 does anyone know if you still experience symptoms of sore, tender breasts once you had had this procedure?

Please help and thank you in advance!

Hi!

Sorry can't help you with your specific questions but I have to say that your doctor's advice ("Wait and see.") is a bit cr*p. And why should you stop charting? Especially when that can actually help you find out if there's something wrong and provide a valuable record of your cycles. I would go and see a gynacologist and ask about it. Your cycles are clearly not normal. Now I would just think that that's a consequence of being on the pill for so long and will sort itself. But if you're nervous about it just get it checked. Way better than waiting and seeing for ages and then finding out you should be on medication or some other treatment that will again take ages before you can TTC.
Good luck and I hope you'll have a nice regular cycle soon.

Apple, sorry no advice, just lots of :hugs: you must be getting frustrated to say the least. how bout posting in the TTC forum as from what I've seen they know a lot about cycles in there!

Also I'd go to your GP and ask to be referred elsewhere if he can't help, it is your right to be referred to a specialist at your request, not many people ask these days! worth a try, I know since I started to ask, they have referred me no problems..

Good Luck hunny xxx

my period has been missing for over 2 weeks now and i have no symptoms either, perhaps we could share experiences over this x x x x

Amy/wishtobemum- Thanks for yoyr response! I went on the pill at 16 and my periods were really irregular.. I would have periods as and when my body decided! I think I will go to the doc's again and ask for more advice like you suggest. I understand people say just wait and lets things settle but its been almost 8months now, I am 27yrs 5'6 8st and fit and healthy so whats wrong??? Ahh sorry It just drives me a little nuts... I will book at Docs app on Monday. Thanks girls ;-)

I'm in a similar position Apple. I came off the pill in July last year, had a period 3 months later, another 2 with about a 6 week cycle, & no period since the start of January.

A few weeks ago, I had a false positive pregnancy test, but since realising I wasn't pregnant, I'm back to waiting for my period to arrive. Ugh. I know I should go to the doctor, & I keep telling myself I will if it doesn't arrive in a week, or whatever, but then keep putting it off because I don't want to hear if something's wrong with me.

My periods were never very regular before I went on the pill, but moreso than this.

Hi,

I'm in a similar position - I came off the pill several months ago after having been on it since I was 16 (now 28). I was on Microgynan. I can't remember exactly when I had my first real period as wasn't monitoring, but it took a long time. My last cycle was 50 days long! Now on day 33 of this one, and no sign of af.

I've read on the internet that it can take a really long time for your cycle to get back to normal. I think it's normal to take up to a year, though they say everyone is different. I've been monitoring cm to try and predict when ovulating, and going to track temperature next month.

We are not trying for a baby yet. But I want to monitor my cycle to get to know my body so hopefully when the time comes I will have a better understanding of when I am most likely to conceive each month.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your feedback all, much appreciated! Thought I would just update you.... I went to the doctors today and talked through my concerns... To cut a long story short I have booked an ultersound for 10th June! He didnt think I had anything to worry about but said lets just do this so we can eliminate it (Fingers crossed!) Ill keep you informed when I know more...
