Im not sure where to post this but anyways my son is 3 weeks old tomorrow and during childbirth i got hemorroids, not only are they painful they are ugly and make me feel disgusting. I am young 19 years old and self concience about this. Please help anybody had this? How can I permanently get rid of hemrroids??

I had one turn up a couple of days ago and its really uncomfortable and sometimes painful. I'm using a gel called preparation H which contains witch hazel and it eases the discomfort and I am hoping will make the horrible thing disappear. You can buy things over the counter or ask your doctor to prescribe you something. Apparently drinking lots of water and sitting in a warm bath for 10 mins a day is meant to ease the discomfort a bit x

I got them in my 1st pregnancy with my dd 7years ago but was to embarrassed to go the doctors so I bought over the counter anasol worked great an idea also use preparation like the lady above me has said it eases the discomfot, then I had my ds nearly 3years ago an they came back really bad with him know tried to sort them out my self with the creams an tablets over the counter but never help an ended up going to see my doctor  but she was really lovely an understandable, she refer me to the hospital to get them removed but then before I was due to have a little operation I found out I was expecting again. Only bit of advise can give ladies threw my experience of them is try get over counter 1st an if no improve please go an see a doctor as they can prescrip something stronger which will help as I regret I never did this :dohh:

I had a very small but unpainful hemorrhoid for a couple of months before I found out I was pregnant. Then fast forward, after delivery, it got worse and larger and damn right PAINful! It was excruciating pain, not just discomfort. I mean, I couldn't sit nor walk. It was the size of a kidney bean. I did a lot of research. Surgery was a no go for me. I'm a natural healing type of person. So...I ordered a very expensive but truly very very very effective natural medicine made from 3 different herbs. After a week, my hemorrhoid shrunk. The pain was gone by the 2nd day of taking these capsules with the herbs in it. If you don't want to go under the knife, try a more natural approach.

I've had a couple of nasty ones for the last 2 or 3 months, I'm using Germaloids cream, which has a local anaesthetic in it and helps a lot. I'm expecting them to get worse during labour though, with all the pushing. Asked my midwife and she said they should go away within 3 weeks to a month of having the baby. If not, I'll be referred to a specialist to have them removed.
Magic, have you spoken to your doctor or midwife about it? I know it's horrible, but don't be embarrassed, they see this stuff every day.

With what I used, yes mine shrunk/went away.

For some ladies, no matter what is used as treatment, it doesn't completely shrink back to normal. It depends on multiple factors.

Use cream and they will shrink right down x

i'm having some trouble now with one.
i can barely walk, its really big and i think its chaffing when i walk.
for a week i have used anusol suppositories & cream and also swapping for germaloids ointment. they haven't done nothing!!!

i desperately went online and found plain witchhazel helps, so today i have got a cotton wool ball put some distilled witchhazel on it (and excuse tmi) popped it on to my bottom and stood up quick to wedge it in place.
each time i've gone to the loo i put a clean one on, and i swear after just one day its shrunk down to half the size it was. x

Thanks for the tips on the witch hazel ladies, mine seems to have gotten worse over the last week so yesterday bought some anusol which so far doesn't seem to be helping, not even with soothing the pain slightly! But I'm gonna give it a bit more time then try the witch hazel trick!

Witch hazel is a good natural, herbal remedy to decrease inflammation. If you girls want to combine other anti-inflammatories together that are herbal remedies, you may do it. While WH is a good anti-inflammatory, it doesn't keep the hemorrhoids from rubbing together. So this is when you would use some kind of ointment (like preparation H) or even diaper rash ointment. I have used plain old olive oil or coconut oil.

I have seen all.kinds of piles on all ages working as a nurse. Treat it earlier the better.

With witch hazel can you use it if you've had bleeding? Coz on the bottle it says not to use on broken skin and I get a fair bit if blood whenever I have a bowel movement.
