She drank a 2 oz and since she took that one I have her a 3 oz (well oh did so I could pump a full bottle) I pumped 5 oz in 15 min and stopped there and only pumped the breast she would have eaten off of at that time. She slept for like 20-30 min and is now hungry again. Does that mean she needs more than 5 oz in her bottles. I'm trying to get her used to it and see how much she needs for when she's with sitters while I'm working and if she's still acting hungry after a bottle she's going to be hell for the sitter..Any thoughts help, thank you. (it could also be that she thinks she needs to be on the breast to fall sleep and if that's the case will that change once she's used to a bottle?)

Umm if she's three weeks she could be trying to get on boob to up your supply coz of the growth spurt?

My little man has only been taking 90-100ml in bottles then sleeping 3 hours (give him a bottle the first night feed)

He has way too many wet nappies so I was worried he was getting too much ?

Sorry just did a bit more of a look in ....

Baby should take roughly 750ml or 25 ounces a day ... If u feed say 8 times a day divide that and u get about 3ounces... So 5 is way too much!
Baby will most likely be suckling and want to suckle for comfort as on the boob they can suckle without getting much milk whereas on bottle they can't and accidentally get over fed and spit up etc...

I have the opposite problem... My boobs are producing so much they drown him and a bottle is perfect for him...

Hope this helps.

I agree that she's probably not hungry and is just looking for comfort. My LO will take a bottle but much prefers boob so is still looking for it afterwards - I guess he feels cheated!

She has already done the whole eat all day for a couple days growth spurt thingy she was back to sleeping a few hours in between feeds so that's why I was worried if she was still hungry..but it could have just been a comfort feed I forgot about that. I figured formula fed babies at about 4 weeks are taking I think 2-4 oz so 5 should have been more than enough it just threw me off when she woke back up and was ready for more. I actually have been having problems with over supply and over active let down too as well as occasionally mucous green poos and still trying to get it together...you say giving a bottle helps?

Well usually it makes it worse but for some reason for us it's better... I get the slow bottles and the flow is much better for him than my boobs that are so so fast the whole feed...

He gets so so gassy and uncomfy!

On bottles it's perfect ... Whereas usually boob flow is slower than bottle so it's the other way around...

Oh I see. I'll have to look into slow flowing bottles she could have used some better sleep last night she slept but she was grunting and farting the whole time couldn't have been too comfortable, Thank you.
