Yesterday I had pain in my back that got exceedingly worse and then I got some shoulder pain that wouldn't let up so I went to the er. They did an ultrasound and bloodwork and told me that I had an uterine pregnancy that looked 5 weeks and 3 days and my beta hcg was 6553. I went home. The pain eventually wore off and I thought everything was fine. The er dr said to follow up with my ob in a few days to retake my blood and so I called them this morning. I was waiting for the call back to confirm when to go in and the hospital called back to check on me. I told her that I understood that I was told I had a uterine pregnancy that was 5 weeks 3 days in size and that my hcg was 6553. But I didn't understand the pain and why I should do a follow up blood test if everything looked "fine". She opened my chart and told me that the radiologist's notes read : intrauterine pregnancy with a possible ectopic on the right side. So I lost my mind and called my ob back they put him on the phone and he said that my ovulation from when I felt the pain and had the positive test was right in line with the dates on the ultrasound and that it is not impossible but almost impossible to have an intrauterine pregnancy and an ectopic pregnancy. I have to go in Wednesday for more blood work and Thursday (6 weeks) for another ultrasound, this time at my obs office. I don't know what to think. I'm just at a loss. Anyone else have any experience with something like this?

Not personally, but my SIL actually naturally conceived triplets.

However, one was ectopic and the twins were intrauterine. But at the time, she was so early they only even considered the ectopic. She had emergency surgery and tube removal, and then weeks later finds out shes pregnant with twins!
