I spent most of my day at the hospital yesterday :( i went for a routine MW appt and bp was high at 150/95. I started stressing so when she did it again it was even higher. I got sent to hospital and they did a bp profile, bloods and dipped my urine for protein. There was no protein and my bloods were normal. BP came down a bit then the midwife came and checked it in the waiting room in front of everyone and it jumped back up to 150/86. Anyway, cut a long story short my consultant (whose lovely) said its not high enough for meds ( has to reach 150/100) and said she will send out the community mw next week to see me to check it again. She offered to scan the baby for reassurance and she went really indepth which was really nice of her.

When i got home i checked my bp on my home machine and it was 130/78 then 120/80 so im confused, i wonder if i just stress at appointments. Anyone else been in this situation? how high did your bp go before you were started on meds?

thanks for reading, sorry its an essay!!

:hugs: I had high blood pressures throughout my first pregnancy. I was typically around 145/85 then up to 150/90. I peaked at 175/100, but that was at my 38 week appointment, so they just brought me in and induced and everything worked out ok. They never put me on meds. I was just told to come in if I started to get signs of pre-eclampsia. How has your blood pressure been doing before now? I started checking my blood pressure every couple days just to make myself feel better. I can understand your confusion, as I thought it was a little odd that I wasn't put on blood pressure meds. I hope things are ok, and your blood pressure doesn't get too high. It's good that they didn't find protein. If I recall correctly they started checking for protien every other week after 20 weeks due to my high blood pressure. Once I had my baby my blood pressure returned to normal. Good luck!

thanks moonbeam. I always had ok blood pressure but in the very early first trimester it went up to 140/90 but i think its down to stress because then it went back to normal. i checked it again last night at home and it was 135/80 then 120/80 after a few minutes. Im gonna keep checking it and show the readings to my mw next week. i also check my own urine for protein everyday (im obsessive lol!!).

It is stress and the appointments. Mine was always fine till I went to the doctors then it elevated. I think it is just natural to be nervous when going to the doctor, especially after you have had a loss. Sorry for your loss by the way :hugs::hugs: Now of course when you are home you are relaxed and the BP comes to normal. I would just keep checking 3x a day to make sure, if it is normal then you know it is the appointments..
All The Best XOOXXO :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

Just wanted to add BP fluctuates during the day, that is normal. After you eat it also may be elevated, also normal. Just take it when you are sitting down and calm, wait like 5 minutes after you sit and then take it, even the motion of getting the machine, sitting down, putting it on your arm ,can make BP higher, so wait 5 minutes then start the machine.. XOXOOX

I'm always higher at appointments. So I often ask them to redo the test part way through the appointment and it usually goes down. I also find if I bring my own monitor and test there it will be lower. Maybe doing it myself makes me feel more at ease.

My blood pressure fluctuates like crazy. Normal one hour and 150/100 the next. They've started me on blood pressure medication today, at 40 weeks pregnant! Hopefully I will only have to take it for a week or less.

The high blood pressure only started the past few weeks, but was generally under 140/90 so they just watched me. Today it was finally too high so they gave me an NST and I have another one on Tuesday, assuming I don't go into labor.

I'm sure everything will be fine- they watch you with the BP issues!
