Hope you don't mind but I have popped over from the first tri forum.
I have come from my 12 week scan with devastating news. They have scored me at 7.5mm nuchal translucency fold & have told me to prepare for the worst. I have a 1:5 chance of a baby with a genetic disorder. I'm going for a CVS next week so will hopefully find out in the next few weeks the results. I was wondering if anyone else had this & had a good outcome ???

My cousin was given 1:2 and she had a perfectly healthy boy :hugs:

Sorry I can't give you advice, but good luck. I believe if you do a search there is a thread on this with the outcomes (it was positive) in Gestational Complications :)

:flower:

I can't offer any advice but try not to panic too much (I won't say don't panic at all as I know you won't be able to stop yourself worrying). I hope the cvs results come back clear for you :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Also 1:5 is 20%

You have 80% chance of your baby being fine ;)
xx

To be honest those tests ect are not evan 100% accurate, And are often wrong. Me and my OH chose not to have the NT blood tests due to it not being accurate and no matter what the outcome would be we would still love our baby just as much ect so thought not to get it as would just cause worry through out pregnancy. As i would never have a cvs/amnio as it carries risk of miscarrying there is nothing they can do before baby is born so why do they do amnio's with risk of miscarrying just to find out if baby has it or not i would rather wait till birth as would not change how we feel about baby ect.
Our NT at 12weeks was 2.10mm and have had no concerns from the sonographers.

No personal experience but I've heard of plenty of women given high odds of there being a genetic problem with bubs to go on and find out they are fine. The NT test does throw up false positives. Good luck with the CVS :) :hugs:

my aunt got a 1:2, she refused any invasive tests and opted for a detailed scan and showed positive soft markers etc. She went on to have a completely 100% perfectly healthy child.

Good luck with the CVS sweetie - no expeirence but didnt want to read and run xxxx

Hi - I had a 3.5 mm measurement (at risk is 2.5 and above). Combined with my hormone levels, I had a 1in10 chance. Had CVS - it was very stressful and upsetting. We got signed off work the 2 weeks waiting for the results - PLEASE ask your consultant for this, you and OH need it to be yourselves. It was summer, so we took ourselves to the beach etc, but try and do something you enjoy.

Results were clear, and we had a happy and healthy boy! Fingers crossed for you. CVS can hurt a little but nothing like labour / C-section I can assure you - and it's worth it to know either way so you can make an informed decision.

Good luck!

My son had an NT measurement of 4.4mm and we were also told to expect the worst. Huge :hugs: for you, I know its just awful :hugs: I went for the CVS (which was emotionally painful rather than hurt painful) and two days later we had the all clear for the main chromosomal disorders. Two weeks later we had the all clear for his full genetic profile. We then had a cardiac scan done in London at 17 weeks which was fine and extra growth scans. I ended up being induced for high BP (not related) and my perfect Alex was born in May. I really hope it all works out for you, please PM me if you have any questions or want someone to talk to. It was the hardest time of my life so I really empathise with you :flower:

I had a NT of 1.9mm, but my blood test came back 1:30 chance of down syndrome, refused CVS and ammnio and had 2 scans with a specialist at 18wks and 21wks, showed no markers.
Our daughter is 100% fine no downs :)
Hope the CVS goes well x

i am really confused, just came acros this thread while searching on google, my 12week+1 day scan yesterday gave us an NT measurement of 2.10mm (apparently 2.5+ = at risk) however we have been told we have a 1 in 17,000 chance of the baby having downs syndrome and that it is low risk.... so why am i still worried?! is it ok that our measurement was 2.10mm??? surely they would've said something yesterday if anything was wrong, right?!

A friend of mine had a 1 in 3 result and she had a healthy baby girl xx
