Hi all, I was just curious to get opinions on what to do. Today at work, a two year old threw a basketball right at me and hit me in the stomach. It wasn't too painful, , just a little uncomfortable. Should I be concerned? As anyone else had this fear or happen??? I'm in second trimester!!

Chances are, everything is fine, especially if it didn't hurt. How many weeks are you? Did the ball hit you lower down or higher up?

If you're really worried about it, its worth calling your doctor/midwife and asking about it.

Baby is pretty well padded in your stomach... between your stomach and the amniotic fluid around the baby, not much gets through to the baby. :flower:

I'd be more concerned if it was something harder, like a baseball. Just watch that you don't start bleeding, abdominal cramps, or if the movement (if you have any) slows.
Mind you if you're really worried, see your doctor.

I also got hit in my stomach twice this weekend..I was very worried and called my doctor. The nurse that answer assured me that the baby is well protected and to call her back if I experienced any discharge. So far I haven't. You could talk to your doc/midwife to ease your mind...

yes! thanks for all the responses! a two year old threw it so it didn't have much force! hit me a lil higher up..just brushed top, enough I felt it, but not enough i was in any pain! just scary! i am 23 weeks and i am still not feeling a ton of movement due to an AP...i felt a lot last evening...no bleeding or discharge at all nor cramping..just nerves i suppose!! i feel like I call the docs too much...ugh, not sure what to do!

I got slammed pretty good by a horse head and everything was fine. I would not worry too much! The baby probably barely felt it!

I'm sure all is fine :flower: working as a nurses assistant in a alzheimers unit with my first pregnancy, one of my residents snapped and punched me in the belly (I was 5 or 6 months along I believe?).... he was weaker obviously so it didn't have a lot of force, but still hurt.... I was worried sick, but everything was a-okay! They just said to watch for bleeding or heavy cramping, and if neither one comes all should be okay, as baby is tucked in nice and tight and padded well in there :)

If a two year old threw the ball, I really wouldn't worry too much, especially if you felt strong movements later that day. I've heard stories of heavily pregnant women fall belly-first into pavement at full force and for the baby to be just fine. :flower:

thanks! i haven't really felt a lot of movement since, but I just started feeling minor movement the past week or so...hasn't been too too consistent yet, so I'm having trouble telling by that...I don't have any bleeding or cramping thus far! Yeah, not much force at all, just a heavy basketball that took me off guard!! Just trying to think positive! these lil guys are so strong in there and well protected!!
