Hi there, am crashing from 2nd Tri and looking for some advice please :)

My DH is away on tour with the Army at the moment and is not due back until I am 33/34 weeks so too late to go on a holiday. Bubs is due on 31st July and then DH is going away again in November for another 6 months :hissy: We would like to fit a holiday in to spend quality time as a family before he goes away again and this is where I need advice!!

If we planned a holiday for late October/early November bubs would be 3 months ish - we live in Germany so we are used to travelling and bubs will have to be too! What do people think? is this too early to take a baby on holiday? Has anyone taked their bubs on holiday very young?

TIA!

Hi,

It would take a lot of preperation. you'd have to consider transport, where your baby is going to sleep at night, feeding (especially if you are going to bottle feed you've got all the sterilising etc), pram etc. I wouldn't say that it's not a viable thing to do it's just not easy!

We took Jack to Sweden when he was 2 months and Spain when he was 4 months and there was no trouble. It would be hell now traveling with him as he wants to crawl, at least then he slept all the time!

thanks for your replies guys :)

xCherylx - did you travel by plane? Did you have any problems with feeding/sleeping?

The younger the better! We took a holiday to France when my lo was 6 weeks old. It was so easy as she slept throughout the flights and adjusted/settled really well. Just had to be sure I was prepared as someone else said. We went on a long haul flight to the US when LO was 4 months old, and again it was a piece of cake. She slept throughout the flights and adjusting wasn't too bad, just a couple days of jetlag.
