i just wanted to ask you ladies, do you get hastle for b/f in public??, I fully intend to b/f my little one, just wondered about the public thing? i have been reading elsewhere about peoples attitudes towards it and just wondered what your thoughts/ experiences were?? I hope you dont mind me popping in

I feed in public all the time, albeit very discreetly. It's pretty rare that people even notice. I have sat having a coffee talking to our vicar and he didnt even notice she was feeding! I've sat in Pizza Express opposite my hubby and he asked me if I was going to feed the baby and I already had done!

I think it's quite rare for people to actually say something - especially when you get good at doing it incognito!! The only people who I've ever seen notice have been pregnant mum's who seem to automatically home in on the baby, like you do when youre expecting and none of them have ever said anything either.

thankyou ladies, just needed some reasurance. I was reading some comments on a news article about b/fing, and it kind of scared me off a bit. They were very nasty about it, i will prob get one of those cover things i think, plus the windows in the back of my car are tinted so if all else fails i could go there.

thank you :hugs:

To be honest, it's me with the problem, not other people. Never had a problem when I've got the courage to!

I think there are hundreds or more women every day out there breastfeeding in public and no one even notices. I do think the media stuff is distorted. I think these stories of women 'flopping boobs out' are the exception and not the rule and they are probably the ones who get the negative comments

No-one has ever said anything to me, thank god! x

I nursed all 3 of mine for atleast a short time and all of them in public. I only had one "incident" when I was nursing my 2nd son while in the waiting room of a hospital of all places and this older lady was giving me "go to hell" looks. I just ignored her, he was fully covered and everything so she could kiss my butt lol. But I nursed my youngest, he's 18mo and self weaning now, but I nursed him in public countless times, probably up until 12-14mo when he finally started eating solids really well so there was no need to. Never had any other problems

I've never had any problems breastfeeding in public, most of the time people don't even notice what I'm doing.

I've never had anybody say anything to me or give me funny looks either. I would consider myself to be quite discreet about it, and generally pick a corner table in a cafe rather than one in the window.

Good luck!

People look out of interest and usually they smile like they think its sweet, the only time i ever get snotty looks is from old women..... which i find insulting because all the babies were bf ''in their day and age'' but yet when i do it im looked at like a piece of s**t......bleugh

Well thanks guys for the re-asurance, and if anyone says anything i will tell them to piss off

Ive never had any funny looks either but Ive only done it a handful of times. If you do it discretely no-one will notice

I've never gotten bad comments, either. Im a little more careful about it now, though, b/c Brayden is such a curious little bug that he'll pop himself off to look around frequently (if he even latches in a busy/noisy area). He will NOT let me cover him up anymore, either.

i go into town most days and i usually end up having to feed leyla, we go into m&s, find a corner table, i tie her big shawl through my bra strap to hold it in plasce, put her under, pull my top up, bra down and ocver her up properly, people have noticed what im doing, i mean the other day i had to sneak a vest top on underneath my teeshirt cos i couldnt get my boobiy out, and this was all sat in m&s haha, they mustve thought i was a right crank!

when i was done i got up to go the toilet and this woman followed me out, said oh i think ur babys hungry she crying back there, i said oh nooo ive just fed her, shes just greedy, she was laughing saying oh yeh, she wants more haha

so the only time someones actually commented on it theyve been nice

i think i might cry if someone told me off for it though lol

x

A fat chav gave me a funny look when I was feeding in the health centre yesterday. I just smiled.

I BF in public was a bit aprehansive at first but got used to it - getting to do it discreetly takes practice tho!! The only incident is when i was in a coffee shop with a friend and a middle aged chav on the table next to us commented really loudly to here friend "its so un-natural" - I pissed myself laughing but didn't say anything wasn't worth arguing with someone who clearly doesn't have two brain cells to rub together!!
