Hospital appointment at Fertility Clinic

Hi All I'm back at the fertility clinic tomorrow after 4 rounds of clomid and HCG trigger jab not working, please wish me luck!!

I think the next step is going to be checking my tubes and I am asking for a lap as I want my uterus checked too in case of anything going on there that could be stopping implantation. I think then they are going to recommend IUI which I am very nervous about, do you think it would be worth my while pushing for another couple of months on clomid but without the stress of scans and jabs? I'm not ready to give up on the clomid as I believe I have had 2 chemical pregnancies on it and maybe just need something else (I'm not sure what!) to help a bean stick.

I am also very torn between not wanting to have the IUI as its quite instrusive and I find smear tests distressing enough, and giving it at least one go as it may be the treatment I need!!!

Thanks for reading and I'll let you know how I get on! Me and DH are planning on going for lunch and to the cinema afterwards so I have something nice to look forward to to get me through my appointment!! Mind you I'm still hoping a will show up tomorrow as the is due today or tomorrow but my hopes (which were never very high) are disappearing fast.

Good luck tomorrow. Yes, if you feel strongly that you would like another couple of months on clomid before moving onto anything else, then tell them that. 4 months isn't that long. See what they say.

Stupid question i know and apologies in advance but did they up your clomid dosage at all? I only ask as my BF was on clomid and it took them a while to get the dosage right - once it was upped she fell pregnant? Fingers crossed xx

Not a stupid question!! No they haven't as I have been on 100mg from the start with a scan every month to see how I have been responding. My first month on it I had one follicle, second month 1 right size one and a smaller one, 3rd month 2 right size ones and this last month I had a scan on CD14 which showed 3 follicles at 12mm so I didn't have the HC trigger jab as I monitored myself for the rest of the cycle using OPK's and I believe I o'd 2 weeks ago! So I don't think the clomid dose needs to be upped as my response to it has been pretty good really and improved too, I think eggs have been getting fertilised but not implanting so maybe my progestrone is slightly low? Will see what they say tomorrow.

Update on my appointment - sorry may be long!!! Went in and had a stupid doctor who hadn't read my file at all and spent most of my appointment telling me what the treatment (clomid) I;ve just finished had actually done and what was wrong with my own cycles, which was all explained at my first appointment when I was prescribed the clomid, rather than telling me what was going to happen next!! Had to ask me what tests etc I had had done which he should have seen in my file, so the majority of my appointment was a waste of time. He then went on to say the next step is a HSG if you haven't had any infections, well again if he looked at my file he would have been able to see that it was agreed with the consultant at my first appointment that I was to have a lap if the clomid didn't work as I had a bacterial infection following surgery last year, so had to explain this all again, surely docs should realise if they spent 2 secs scanning a file they could actually save themselves half the appointment time!!! So it was agreed I would have a lap and he then tried to tell me that they wouldn't be able to tell if endometriosis or anything was going on so at this point I was starting to get quite annoyed as I felt the appointment was just a waste of time as I wasn't been told anything new and was even being given wrong information. Was told that there was an 18 week waiting list for the lap, so I asked if I could have another couple of cycles of clomid without the scans and injections. He said he couldn't make that decision and would need to ask the actual consultant. I could barely understand a word he was saying as he had such a strong accent and seemed to be irritated that I was asking questions, basically he was treating me as if I was stupid and trying to get rid of me asap!! Then he said pretty much at the end of my appointment I will go and ask the consultant about the clomid but if you have that he may not put you on the waiting list for the lap!!! So he went and got him and fortunatly I was able to actually see the proper consultant who explained things a lot better, explained the lap and said they would be looking for any adhesions or endometriosis as well as putting dye in to check my tubes. He also explained that if they find anything they can treat there and then simply they would which is good to know. He wasn't happy to give me any more clomid as he wants to give my ovaries a rest which makes sense. He also said the waiting list probably won't be as long as 18 weeks either and gave me a leaflet and sorted out the rest of the paperwork. Once I've had the lap and dye they are then recommending IUI of which I will make the final decision as to whether we are going to go through with it following the lap.

All in all I got the main thing that I wanted and had a doctor who actually treated me like someone who had some intelligence rather than a complete moron like the first doctor did. So fingers crossed that I happen to fall pregnant before the op (today is CD1) and that it isn't too long in the new year that they give me the call to book me in.

so sorry you had to deal with a moron !!! grrrrrrrrrrr....we already lose so much time each month when we failed at our BFP it's even more frustrating when you have to deal with a stupido front of you to make lose even more of your time !!!

anyway i am glad you were available to sort things out at the end !!!

Thank Miel! Thats what I was thinking too and he couldn't understand why I was getting agitated!!! I felt like walking out and telling him I'm agitated because I'm upset I'm here at all!!! Mind you since being at home this evening I've worked out that we must have been in the appointment for almost an hour so hopefully that screwed up his day! Though of course I feel sorry for all the people who had to wait longer because my appointment went on longer than it should

Good for you! I don't think an hour of someones time is too much to ask when it is their job to reassure you. And if his day was all off schedule after your appointment he only has himself to blame for not familiarising himself with your case notes!
