I seem to read mixed opinions on this. DD is 3 months old and formula fed. It's really hot in the UK at the moment. Do I need to give her water aswell as her feeds?

TIA x

I have been offering my lo water since 3 months, on hot days and when constipated. She is Ff too. Any HV will tell you not to give water till 6 months so you have to make your own call whether to give her some or not. If you decide to give water make sure its been boiled and cooled and in the vessell that has been sterilised. And not more than 1oz a day (this is an advice i had from HV for constipation but i extended it onto hot days)

Nope, just keep feeding formula on demand, as much as she wants and as often. It's actually not really that hot here, though I know it feels it to us because we aren't used to it, but in normal temps like this (not like 45C), formula or breast milk really is all they need unless your doctor says otherwise (for instance, if you have a baby that isn't eating much and isn't gaining weight and is at risk of dehydration anyway, which is rare). You may find though that she drinks more when it's warmer, so you may want to prepare larger bottles and make sure she's always leaving a little and not completely draining every one.

I offered cooled boiled water and she was really unimpressed so think I shall just stick to formula! Thank you ladies X

Interesting how different things are UK vs US. Here, its like a sin if you offered water before a 6mo-yr!

It is very interesting! Opinions vary greatly, even from health professionals. Very hard knowing what to do for the best.. X
