Housing association... At a loss :(

If it's a known health and safety issue-isn't that an issue for the council? I just can't believe how they are all washing their hands of the problem.
Do other tenants have this issue too?

My neighbours are also having the problem one neighbour has reported the others are sadly living with the problem thinking (knowing) nothing will be done :(.

They moved a single lady into the 1 bed flat next to me is having trouble with hers and she mentioned it to the housing officer as she had no hot water or electric hers just completely stopped blowing :(

The neighbour who like me has reported it I've literally just this minute been speaking to her and she said they are meant to have off switches mine was never fitted and hers keeps sparking!

Roll on moving can't wait to leave here and start again!

I have other, ongoing issues with my HA, so I sympathise. Although it didn't resolve everything going to local councillors and threatening to go to local press spurred them into action in our case. Also seeking specialist advice. You could write a formal complaint, and if you don't get the response you're looking for, escalate it, and then you can complain to the ombudsman if escalating it doesn't resolve things. On their website they should have details of the process. Hopefully you get to move to somewhere way better though, because in my experience a bad housing association are never going to change their ways or admit they were wrong. My housing assoc, the neighbourhood manager doesn't even seem to know what day it is, I have written her various letters asking for details on my tenancy agreement to be updated and she has ignored them all, she ignores all phone calls too and emails. Also when the lift in our block was broken for months she was uncontactable and she sent one letter to residents in all that time, with no real information about the reason for the lift being out of service or what would be done. I've formally complained about her several times before as have other residents and nothing has been done about her. Also been harassed by the income/rent officer and I can prove it but they refuse to assign me a different one saying it isn't 'allowed', I have sought advice and there is no reason why they shouldn't give me a different income officer xx

:hugs: xx

Thanks hun, my blood is boiling today because I wrote back to the income officer's boss restating that I want to be assigned someone else and stating several incidences where she had harassed me and enclosing proof to back up what I said and he not only wrote back saying it can't be done but she 'refuted' all my claims about her and also had the nerve to make up a bunch of lies to cover her back. I am writing to her boss's boss next lol.

Our water system is really iffy too, it's electric and is supposed to have a user accessible thermostat on the water heater tank, it doesn't though it has a thermostat under a panel on the front of the unit-a panel that can only be removed by a qualified electrician and the thermostat has no markings around it to let you know what temperature you're setting it to so when we had an electrician around to fix another problem under the same panel he accidentally knocked the thermostat dial and made our water super hot. The other thing is we have two immersion heaters, one meant for daily use and one meant for emergencies but we have found that the 'emergency' one is much cheaper to run even if left on all the time, whereas the normal one costs a fortune even if you make sure it's only on for a few hours a day. I strongly suspect that the two switches have been labelled wrongly and what we think is the emergency water heater is actually the normal one. We've also had various problems with electrics overloading, the mini circuit breakers are always tripping and all our sockets go off and the light fitting in our main bathroom exploded but the HA deny there's anything wrong with the electrics at all xx
