anyone on income support/jsa and know how much housing benifits you are entitled to while pregnant? considering moving out of parents house (due to over crowding, they have agreed to state this to the housing office as it really is and issue at the min) but not sure if i could afford it? xx

I'm not sure but going to be stalking this thread as am similar situation to you and would also like to know how it works  x

it depends on whether the council where u are will class where your living as overcrowded or not to helpw ith wat you can get, im going to speak to a welfare rights advisor on monday who will tell me everything im entitled to ... maybe you could go and do the same near you?

I went to the local council a few weeks back and they said while i'm pregnant they will only pay for a one bedroom house/flat to the limit of about £400 a month i think it was and then once i've had Scarlett they will pay for a 2 bedroom house/flat to about £520 a month i think it is.. I've found an apartment for £500 a month but they wont pay for a bond which u have to sort out yourself xx

yeah mines a similar situation. until you have lo they will only pay for a 1 bed place, once he or she arrives they increase it to cover bubs.
your deposit you have to get yourself aswell
but its the best thing me and scott have done!
we get 400 a month until jessie arrives and then its 540 when shes here. that still leaves us £60 a month short of our rent (its 600) but thats better than forking out the whole lot every month and leaving us with no cash.

I think it does differ from area to area as i do know a few people who have had the same issues and depending on where they are does depend on the differences in rent being payed. I know that we are definately over crowded as we have been for a while and especially now that my OH lives with us and my room isnt classed as a bedroom where the overcrowding bill is concerned (i have a junior bed still as a normal sized bed doesnt fit! lol) however on the coventry housing list i am already eligible to bid for 2 bed properties now that i have taken in the relevant paperwork to prove my pregnancy and due date.. but does this mean i would only get the benifits worth to cover a one bed flat and have to pay the rest if i chose a 2 bed? (we can afford to pay an extra £30ish a week between the two of us but not sure what it would be extra ontop of as im not sure what i am entitled to)

i just dont really want to bid for things that i am unable to afford as i dont know what housing benifits i will get yet.

how do i find out about talking to a welfare rights advisor? lol im reli new to this if you havent guessed xxx

Go to your local citizens advice and ask them. :) that's what I did

Try this to see what you're entitled to... there are quite a few questions to answer but it really does give you a good idea of what you'll be entitled to. x

It's just under 400, like £380 I think! If you're still living at your parents though your not entitled to it at all. Also if you move out with your OH it will go on how much he earns too so it could be as low as £30 a month! Your best going in and talking to them. x

Lois r u under sutton council?
If so there really helpful with everything, if u look on gumtree n property sites see if they'll accept dss as some landlords dont.
The rate for a 1 bed room (just u) is 300-400 but if its u n oh its 600-700 for a 1 bed flat then it goes up 2 £850 once bubs is here for a 2 bed.
All me n oh did was look round n write up a list of places that where alright with dss n they were really helpful when we showed them we'd already lookd around, they dont really have alot of places on there books so if u can find somewhere there willing to help.
