How accurate is the side of the placenta theory?

I got an 8 week ultrasound today! Supposedly, I read if the baby is on the right side of placenta it is boy! I had a transvaginal. Did anyone use this theory and get it right? Thanks!

From what I've read, it is what side the placenta is on, not the baby. So if your baby is to the right of the placenta, should I assume the placenta is on the left? That would be a girl if so. There is speculation as to the accuracy of the study but I have seen people swear by it. Do you have any pictures?

Yes, I do! I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking at as far as the placenta is concerned.

I'm totally new at it to, but my best guess is that it is on the left and would indicate a little girl. Keep us posted!

That's what I thought too! Thanks! I'll def let you know when I find out! :cloud9:

You have to ask the person doing the ultrasound where the placenta is. My baby was on top of the placenta in my ultrasound. It could be right by them or on the other side of the sac. Mine was abdominal (baby is literally using the placenta as a comfy bed lol) so you flip the image so it was in the middle, but slightly to the left. Got my panorama results and baby is a girl! So it was kind of correct for me haha

My placenta was on the right, and I had a boy. Whatever that may mean. Haha.

This theory is not accurate at all in my opinion! Just as bad as the old wives tales. The only theory I believe has any value is the nub theory, but even that is just a guess! Just my opinion though.
