Me and DF are planning to move a bit closer to my family but it's turning in to a nightmare. We don't know whether to go with something small and cheap, or something with a bit of extra room just in case, dare I say it I get pregnant.

On one hand we could save a bit of extra money but I will feel like we are just giving up on having children. On the other, I don't think I could stand looking at an empty room.

Get somewhere with the space for a child. The cost of moving is so high, you don't want to have to move again WHEN you get pregnant. Meanwhile, use it as a guest room or computer room! :)

Go with the room! Lots of people have a guest or computer room me included. Just don't go painting it all baby until it happens.

We moved in September last year to a smaller place than I would've liked considering we were TTC. The place we're in now is lovely but not suitable at all for a baby/child, but you know what? I'm glad we didn't get a bigger / more child-friendly place after all.

As we're still TTC now and we've never experienced a BFP in all the time we've been trying I'm glad in a way that I haven't been basing my decisions on a yet-to-be-conceived baby!

I don't mean to sound grumpy or bitter, but I'm learning that in order for me personally to cope with LTTTC, I have to live for today and try not to plan for an unknown future. You might handle things completely differently to me though!

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would get the extra room, we have a spare room, just don't make it empty maybe, use it as a study/ computer room

It would be nice to have a spare room but we just wouldn't have anything to fill it up with. Our computer acts as our TV because we have a bigger monitor and we keep everything else like furniture to a minimum. We are considering buying another computer though so it could work out.

ChartsNHearts I understand what you are saying, I feel a bit like that and don't want to plan for something that isn't certain but then all the "what ifs?" start popping in to my head.

The actual cost of us getting somewhere with an extra room is pretty cheap at the moment, but that could change within the next couple of years so then we'd be missing out.

I say go with the room because on the other end of the spectrum, what if you do actually get bfp? Then it'd mean having to move again. It's your choice, GL :hugs:

I've always wanted a dressing room. Might be hard to give it up once you get you bfp tho! Lol!

In my case my extra room is my office. I work from home and I absolutely love that space now. I have no clue where I'd set my stuff up if it eventually becomes a nursery. Like you say - it's tough to plan ahead.

We only rent, but we have a four bed house.....guest room, office and dressing room/could be baby room.

I remember moving from our two bed flat to a three bed house in the first year of ttc as we were convinced we'd get preggers wthin a year of trying.

If the cost is not much higher i would go for the extra bed, you could get a futon and use the second room as a second lounge/reading room/guest room
