Does my turkey need to be?

Its for 3 adults and 2 children....Would a turkey crown do?I dont want to have to get all the yuck out of the inside of the turkey....

xx

A turkey crown would do. That's what I buy every year and there is loads of meat on it. They also come in different sizes anyway. I normally spend around £20 on mine from Asda and its feed us all on christmas day with loads of pickings for days after.

Hi!

I alsways do a turkey crown they are great and so easy!

When it was just me and OH we just got a small £8 ish one from the supermarkets...they can be plain or be stuffed too!

Last year I had my mum and brother over for christmas dinner so 4 adults and one baby who had some too and we bought a £20 ish one which is bigger and was stuffed too and it did us no problem with leftovers.

This year I have my mum, dad and two brothers coming so 5 adults, 1 teen and a toddler to feed so going to buy two different larger turkey crowns.

I was going to cook a "real" turkey but its so expensive and well huge so I wouldnt get anything else in my oven!! Plus your paying for the weight which is including the bones...unless your gonna make soup then whats the point?

I go overboard with my turkey, I get a 17-18lb turkey stuffed which comes to about £50. But I do order it about 6 weeks before so I have 6 weeks to pay instalments if I want. My turkey does us for Christmas day, some sandwiches on Christmas night and does my Boxing day dinner to :) x Oh there is 4 of us, but sometimes on Boxing day my sis will come and there is always enough for an extra 3-4 people :)

I would get the smallest size of turkey (think it's about 8lb weight...not sure.) No matter what way you cook it, a turkey crown will never be as tasty or moist as a whole turkey cooked on the bone.

When you get your fresh/ frozen turkey home there will be a plastic bag inside it containing the giblets (some innards) which I use to flavour the gravy but it's not essential so if you don't fancy it don't open the packet just chuck it. There shouldn't be any other yuck inside it.

I buy a whole turkey from m&s. It cost £30 last year and did 13 of us :) You dont need to gut it either, they do it for you and put the giblets inside (and the neck ).

I agree with Jenstar, IMO a crown just doesn't taste the same and it isn't christmas without carving a big bird on the table:D
