I got 2 dogs and my baby is 2 and half months old. We let the dogs sniff his feet and licked ( just a bit at his toes, lol ) and clean him right away. We did let them come close to him while he was sitting in the bouncer but didn't touch the baby.

what about everyone else?

Well,I have a cat and I never let her near the baby.
I will slowly start to get her adjusted after a while, but not yet.

The thing is that my cat is really jelaous, she ate my hamster.TWICE.

I've always let my dogs sniff Bella. I would never leave them alone with her and I don't put her on the floor if she is in the same room as them.

As far as Emma-dog is concerned Charlotte is hers! Em's goes up to her when she's in her exersaucer or jumperoo and gives her kisses then sits in front of it and 'guards' her. If Char is on her playmat then Emma is sitting right there. If Char cries and we don't hear it right away Emma goes back and forth to get our attention. They don't call her breed the 'nanny' breed for nothing! Charlotte loves Emma too, she 'talks' to her, pets her, grabs at her..Em's loves it.

As for the cats...they pretty much ignore her. Charlotte will pet them if we bring her up to them and one cat, Clyde, doesn't mind, but he's old and lazy and LOVES pets. The others pretty much keep their distance. Once in awhile Dakota will come up and lick her hair, but that's it. These pics the cats were in the crib already and I put Charlotte in with them. Now that she sleeps in the crib at night the cats won't go near it.

The same hamster?! Did she spit it back out?! or two seperate hamsters?

Ill let my dog near Meadow, I think I can trust him. Just make sure I wash her hands/feet if he licks. Hes not much of a licker tho more of a sniffer.

I have two dogs and anytime they are around they get to "see" sniff or lick at the baby. They were my babies before and I think I will have more issues if I didn't start right from the start than if I had tried to keep them seperate. Both dogs though are very strictly obedience trained to the point that I can leave them in a down stay with a treat in front of them and leave the room and until I come back and say it's ok they will leave it!

The most that has happened is my parents dog sniffed, then licked... then nibbled her toes and she actually must of thougt it tickled cuz she let out one huge happy squeal :)

they are such cute pics!!! my friends dog licks Riley but not for long i dont like any animal being near him for long but thats because there not mine and i dont no what there capable of if they were mine id probably be a bit diff

we have two cats and we let them near maddi, have done it gradually and they all seem to like one and other :) they don't lick or bite and are really good with her, but don't let them on their own with she, they really like to curl up and worried they will sit on her head :dohh: x x x

I have a yorkie and Colton LOVES him. We are moving out though soon, so giving him to OHs mother.
Colton grabbed his hair once, tried to eat the dogs nose, but gagged. Guess the dog didnt taste to good

I try not to let me jack russel lick charlie but she gets a sly lick in every now and then lol she just sniffs him but doesnt bother with him much but charlie has started grabbing sandy(my dog) and sandy doesnt like it so i have to be carefull now .

heres a pic of sandy giving him a sly lick lol

The same hamster.
The first time I caught her while she was chewing on him so she spat him out and he was actually fine...
Then she did the same thing and the poor guy dies from shock. :nope:

I trust my dogs - I don't trust Kaya! All it takes is a finger in the eye or an ear pulled too hard and a warning snap gone wrong. I would never leave my dogs alone with a child or a baby. I heard once about a woman who left her baby in the moses basket in the same room with her dog who had puppies. When she came back the dog had taken the baby over to her puppies and smothered it. She was only trying to help look after the baby but it ended in tragedy.

The dogs are mostly kept in the conservatory(so they can run in and out of the garden) if we do let them into the lounge then it is always when we are there. Logan my ridgeback is a really heavy sniffer, he presses his nose really hard against something and sniffs so i wouldn't let him to close to Amelia just incase he hurt her.

He does know he is allowed to close because all i have to do is look at him when he is getting close to her and he looks at me and walks away....bless!

My dogs are my furbabies!! I have 2 cocker spaniels and they have been sooo good with her. :cloud9: Moog (3yr old bitch) is very licky with people and quite vocal. She's been right up to Hebe and hasnt licked her once! She sniffs her but thats it. She's also stopped barking as much - she just seems to know. Merv (3 yr old deaf dog) ADOOOORRES Hebe! He sits looking at her or lays at the bottom of her pram or bed and follows me and watches as I bath of change her:cloud9:. He's very quiet and gentle and he's had a sniff of her but thats it. He loves children and while I'd never leave her unattended with them incase they tryed to curl up on her or something, I do trust them implicitly with her.

My dog (toy poodle) will always be near the baby , if im on the couch with the baby he has to be near him giving him a foot bath lol

I Have Two dogs, yeah my kids are a little older.. But when they were smaller, i would let the dog decide how close they got to them

my one dog kiley she is a different dog, she was my parents, and there she wouldnt let my kids any where near her, now she lets them do what ever they want to her, poor dog has been colored on with chalk, rode on But i just leave it up to the dog really.. if that makes any sense?

Ive got a mini yorkie, he loves lilly and lilly loves him, she pulls him round by the fur and he just runs away. she plays tug of war with his toys too its sooo cut ill have to upload a vid, as for licking he always takes a sly lick of her face but we shout at him but he always licks her ears, wierd!

either bobby thinks hes human or lilly thinks shes a dog! x

My dog has jumped in the moses basket 3 times!! I have moved it so he cant do it again but he keeps looking in...... nothing in it yet tho. Im so nervous about what hes going to be like.

Aww!!! Such cute pictures!!!!

We no longer have a dog, and here is why: our dog was told to stay away from the baby unless we were around, and she always obeyed. Then one day, while I was a few feet away, my (then) six year old put the baby near the dog and the dog was cornered and couldn't get away so she attacked our six year old. It happened so fast I didn't even know what was going on until it was over! Luckily, everyone is ok now, but we had to put the dog down since state law requires that after an attack that requires medical attention (as it did in our case).

That was a nice dog too, or so we thought. I am sure that everyone's dogs are really sweet, but just be vigilant, because you never know! I am pregnant again and we will not be getting another dog until this baby is at least four or five. That scared the life out of me!
