How do i increase my milk supply?

Hi,

I'm new to baby and bump and this is my first post, i'd just hope you can help me.

I have been breastfeeding my son via breast and expressing for the last 3 months and I have recently noticed my milk supply has dropped. Can anyone advise me how to increase my milk, either naturally or professionally by a doctor.

I am desperate to keep breast feeding my child so any help will be gratefully recieved.

Why do you think your milk supply has dropped? I think it has probably just regulated and is producing as your baby needs it, rather than over-producing before, if that makes sense?

Hi, welcome to BnB. Toria is probably right but if you DO need to increase supply try drinking lots of water ie at least 2 litres a day, also try fennel tea or fenugreek tablets xx

I think my supply has dropped as when i am expressing now i never quite get a full feed out. My breasts never seem full anymore and i just feel different about him feeding.

Them not feeling full anymore is because your milk has regulated. Do you stop pumping when your milk stops coming out? If you do it for an extra 5-10mins it should build up your supply

I am drinking at least 3 litres of water a day and am taking fenugreek and haven't noticed a difference in my supply.

You'll never produce quite as much milk when you pump. There is nothing other than you LOs suck which will produce the max amount x

Yeah babies will gets loads more out than an expresser will. I can only get 3 oz out of both and I have a 14 lbs baby.

But if you think it has then drink a pint of water before a feed and you can take fenugreek which is a herb from health food shops which is safe to take which is meant to increase your supply. I take Brewers Yeast tablets which have tonnes of B vits which helps alot.

Also I find if I am really tired or got a cold my supply drops. But my boobies are soft all the time and never feel full it just means your milk supply matches the demand of the baby and its working all as it should - trust your boobies!
