OK...

I brought the dispensers to take out with me... so I was boiling water filling up the bottles with water for the day... then adding the powder when it came to feeding her....

...until my friend pointed out how on the formula packaging it says add powder after 30mins.... or 15mins in the case of Aptamil easy digest!! So why the dispensers???

So anyway now Ive been making up the feeds in the morning and putting them in the fridge!! I know this isnt recommended but with the easy digest milk I found that cooler water didnt dilute all the powder properly!! Again dispensers?? point??

Also.... if your LO doesnt finish his/her feed... how long do you leave it for until you throw it away!! I know you cant re-heat it and ive always thought an hour but if you put it back into the travel bag (that keeps the tempreture) then can you leave it longer???

How do you guys organise the feeds??!!

I simply have to have part if not all of it ready cos my LO wakes and is literally starving... no way could she wait 30mins for the boiled water to cool down!!

i used to boil kettle, fill bottle up with hot water... add the milk powder, cap it. leave on the side til cool then put in fridge but leave 1 out. at feed time uncap bottle on side... add teat and give to child. never warmed up a feed.... my 2 had room temp bottles and ones now 10 and others 4..... never hurt them to do it that way. i was told about it whilst in hospital

I know they say you shouldn't but I get all my bottles ready in the morning for the whole day. I fill kettle up with frsh water & boil, while it's cooling down I sterilise all my bottles & accsessories, add cooled water to bottle, add milk powder, leave on side till totally cooled as sometimes the waters still abit warm then pop in fridge :)

My mum did it with all 3 of us & it never harmed us

I do as above, but I do 3 in mornin and 3 in evening. Then if I go out I have a bottle ready.

yeah same here I do all bottles for the day and then make the over night ones ..

As for leaving the formula that baby has'nt drank well my DR said not more then 1-2 hrs after its made , I have put bottles back in room temp coolers due to 9 hrs road trips and its never harmed in any way .. but each LO is diff mine only drinks his milk semi-cold lol he likes cool milk I guesse

I have the water all ready in the bottles then add the milk when needed, i did this with both and never had problems. When i go out i just take one ready made bottle and then some clean bottles and cartons x

I do a days worth in advance. In the evenings I sterilize the bottles and boil the water. Let the water cool for a bit (30 minutes or so) and add the formula, than stick the bottles in the fridge. When going out sometimes we take a premade bottle and keep it cold (ask for hot water wherever we are) or sometimes we take boiled water and add formula later. Though I think when we go shopping next we are going to buy the premade formula, much easier, though more expensive. Since we don't go out that much it shouldn't be too bad.

Kerry have you tried heating the water when you are out and about and then adding the formula? So pretty much carry on with what you were doing but instead of heating after mixing, heat it first and then mix it. might be worth a try? I wouldn't leave it more than an hour after making up to re-use. Have you ever unscrewed the lid after an hour and seen it? starts to go funny and curdle. might be different if kept in the fridge though

Once I´ve sterilised my bottles I add the powder to them leave them on the side. I bought a thermos flask, and now boil up the water, let it cool down in a measuring jug on the side (bought a little temperature guage too that shows when the water is the right temp) and then fill the flask up full. That way the water stays at the right temperature and I literally just need to add the powder. Ideal for nighttime feeds too, cos I just have it all prepared by the side of the bed.

If I´m going out, I usually take two bottles with me and have bought a smaller flask which fits better in the changing bag.

I used to boil the kettle - let it cool a bit put the water in the bottles and put them in the fridge then when it was feed time I warmed the water and added the powder from one of those dispensers
