How do you pay for christmas?

We save a bit every month and then start buying early!x

I save alot and put alittle on the credit card for the big things and like you spend a few months paying it back :)

i save tesco points for xmas have done last couple of yrs ive got 60 towards food
i started picking up bits in jan sales just little things n started actual shopping in jun-jul when i saw things on offer or reduced i got them im nearly there n no debt! im quite proud of my self ive shopped for my 5 kids as well as family n friends n managed a bit extra for family treats this yr n we only just in nov :)

It comes out my bank account. I do have an overdraft but it's there for emergencies only now. I managed to save a little bit while living with my mum though xx

we split it between savings (we have a jar that i put pound coins in throughout the year)
catalogues and paypal account.

I am freakily organised (think spreadsheet for all our money down to the last penny) and put aside £100 a month for xmas and it covers everything!!

We don't get much extra food though as we have xmas dinner at either my parents or hubbies parents!!

My dad takes money off me everyweek! i moan he treats me like a child but im really gratefull when i get it all back at christmas! its going to be great this year & im glad he did it because my partner lost his job 3weeks ago & we usually just buy everything nov/dec so im soo gratefull to have this lump sum & for my pushy dad!

I have a saving thing called credit union and i save in that and i can get a loan of 3 times of what i have saved it that then pay it back interest free :D

Some family members aren't well off and don't give us presents, which is no problem at all. I'd rather have no present than someone get in debt to get me one!

I agree, i'd feel terrible :(

We don't have many people to buy for, just Freya and each other. OH's family are over in the UK so we just exchange cards, and in my family we just do secret santa so each person only has to buy one present.

For Freya we lay-by things for her earlier in the year. I'm not sure if you do lay-by over there. You just choose what you're buying and the shop keeps hold of it while you pay it off, with no extra charge.
We usually have Christmas dinner at my mum's place, but this year I'm not sure what's happening. We have been paying into a christmas club at the local supermarket so will have extra to spend there.

I do save through the year but always end up a bit overdrawn :(

We buy out of our wages, I start early and pick things up in the sales aswell. I like the idea of using Park for vouchers but I am a bit wary after that company that went bust.

I have a change tin aswell, and everything else comes out of the Oct/Nov wage packet.

I put £1 coins into a jar for Amelies stuff, save up my boots and tesco points and blow all of novembers and decembers wages lol

I started my Christmas shopping in the summer :) It's been done since before Halloween, for Elyse anyway.

It usually just comes out of November/December's wages! Luckily my OH has been able to get quite a bit of overtime this month so next month's pay should be a bit better than usual. We will be on a bit of a tight budget but I'm still really looking forward to Christmas this year :D x

I start in Septemberish buying bits and bobs every week, Neil buys the girls big pressies and I buy all the smaller stuff, and stuff for family.

I think I have only ended up in debt once for xmas and swore I wouldnt again, I was still paying for it 2 years later :sad1:

Tescos vouchers and £50 a month (ish) into a saviongs account.
