How do you pronounce Xavier?

I always thought it was ex-zay-vee-ah but than i met a guy who pronounces his name zay-vee-ah...which i think is cuter...

I know the X-men series used X-avier, but I think it maybe it is supposed to be Zay-vier...

I'm not sure which we'll go for, I'd assume most people now would pronounce the X because of the comics/cartoons/films....

Other - Za-vee-ay (first 'a' is shortened vowel sound, like you say in bat, cat, rat etc,). That's how I've always heard it said in France, and it's a French name as far as I'm aware.... The X is meant to be silent.

I say Za-vee-ay. I know two people called this and that's how they say it (one is French, the other British but French parents). I have heard people saying Zay-vee-er. I never ever heard anyone say ex-zay-ver-er before this thread so you learn something new everyday!
