Had my section 5 days ago, got home saturday and tried not to do to much for weekend as hubby was at home also. Well hes back at work 2morow and i have a toddler also. So although they say take it easy its easier said than done really. How easy are you ladies taking it? are you doing your normal housework as in washing in washing machine and washing dishes etc. Are you walking up and down stairsas you normally would? ive been told by some midwifes dont do anything and others have said do as you normally would. Im lost. What have you ladies been doing?

hi there, I am a first time mom so no toddler to run after.
I would say, for the next week or so, take it extra easy. Forget about housework, DH can help you with that. You will be really tired just from moving around. Exhausted, really.
I had my section 18 days ago now and I feel almost back to normal, but I still get tired after grocery shopping or visiting my inlaws.

Agree with Nits. You'll be tired !

I've had 3 sections and the recovery has been pretty easy for all. Ive never waited 6 weeks to drive or anything and I don't lift super heavy things for a few weeks but that's about it. Encourage your toddler to come to you or climb up while you're sitting down if that helps.

You'll be able to tell how much you're up for. If it hurts, or feels wrong, don't do it ! I was pretty much back to normal after a week or so.

hey, well until today which is one week after section, I did nothing except shower and look after baby, today however I have folded washing, done the dishes and cleaned a few things but I am not going to hang washing yet or over exert myself.
so yeah a little bit of house work, if you are not in too much pain should be okay but do not try vacuuming or heavy lifting or driving yet

None of that! I just had a section in April. If you overdo it, you will regret it. Let your husband do the dirty work for a bit.

whoops I spoke to soon, I woke up with horrific back pain and a sore period like cramp where my scar was all because I overdid it yesterday, i thought i would be like superwoman, doing washing and dishes plus looking after baby
so wait a couple of weeks heck even four weeks before you start driving, doing housework and exercising

Its easier said than done though, dont you think? I havnt really done much until today, today i done things like sort laundry out for my mum to put in the wash and just tidy clutter( toddlers toys) and stuff and that was it. Do feel abit achey where my scar is this evening.

Totally. I have a very supportive husband and my mom is living with us right now, helping with everything (and I don't have a toddler). And even then, I still feel like I do too much some days. I get tired of not doing anything but breastfeed.

My bleeding had almost gone away and just now I saw that I had bright red blood with two very small clots. I am wondering what I may have done... I'll just keep an eye on it.

Please don't overdo it -- get your OH or mum or somebody to do the 'heavy stuff', e.g. hoovering, bending over for any length of time -- always rest a bit more than you think you should!

It is a major surgery! Obviously, if you feel up to it, do some light housework, but please take it a bit slower (driving uses different muscles than hoovering!)....

best wishes

I was walking after 6 hours - even had a shower, but I think it was more because my little one was in special care and I wanted to see him. I was driving after 2 weeks, and getting in and out of the car and bed were my real problems, it hurt like hell for the first couple of weeks! The pain had pretty much gone after a week but I ached a lot after sitting for too long or walking around. I didn't do anything strenuous for the first few weeks and found even at 5 weeks a fair bit of walking would make me ache and make my bleeding worse. I am now 9 weeks on and only stopped bleeding little over a week ago but apart from the odd twinge if I really over do it, I would never believe I have had major surgery and I felt like that from the second week! I do think it helped doing nothing strenuous like hoovering or heavy lifting but keeping mobile and pottering about definitely helped with healing process, as long as I didn't stand for too long! x

My son was 18months when my 2nd son was born
and DP was back to work soon after
I was back driving day after i got out hospital and doing everything
I usually did for my son, including Lifting everything and washing ETC

only advise is when you start to feel the strain in scar area STOP!!!
i learnt that the hard way after my 1st c-sec
and make recovery process alot worse and longer..

its hard wen you have a toddler to look after and needing to do things
hope you have speedy recovery and scar area less sensitive soon xx
