well after much deliberation i finally decided to give in and get a doppler and its arriving today.

i wasnt sure if it was a good move or not as ive been very anxious so far with this pregnancy so i guessed it would either make me more anxious if i couldnt find the heartbeat or less anxious if i could, hopefully the latter! and as im 15 weeks now im hoping i should be able to get some success with it fairly easily.

my question is how hard to do u need to press with the doppler for it to successfully pick up the HB? my consultant found it yesterday and pressed very hard to find it, and although im sure it wouldnt do any damage i dont feel comfortable being quite that firm with it, although obviously i may need to have any success with it.

does anyone have any experience of dopplers they could share?

don't press so it makes you uncomfortable but you do have to put a bit of pressure on... but then I am a bigger girl at size 16/18 UK so I had a couple of layers to get through first :munch:

i was considering getting a Doppler myself... not sure though, we'll see soon :) i'm not sure on the pressure either hun, just give it a try and see how it goes.

u need to be quite firm but obviously it shouldnt be unconfortable...similar to how they are with u when u went for ur 12 weeks scan

good luck hun!

i love my angel sounds doppler!! x

thanks everyone- invisible u have to get one, we are bump buddies afterall

I don't press too hard with mine but when I pick up LO's HB and its a lil bit faint, I will put some pressure on and rock it back and forth to pick it up clearly!

Have fun!

I barely press at all with mine and pick it up super easy. I have the same one the doctors use in the office and I just kind of roll it around and it picks it up :)

great thank u, i cant wait for it to arrive now! x

Don't press to hard, but just enough and use oil, lotion or water to amplify the sound and make it easier to slide across your belly without too much feedback in the headphones....but If you can get yourself some ultrasound gel like at the dr's office that works the best!

I have an angelsound doppler and picked up the heartbeat at 13weeks its great and really reassuring! i use baby oil and the firmer i press the more clear it sounds but u dont need to put to much pressure on to pick it up! Good Luck!
