How long are you planning on BF for?

Firstly, well done you!! :yipee:

I breastfed for 14months because that's when I felt we were ready to stop. I never cut down feeds she did that on her own and we started with foods when she was 5 and a half months old x

I was going to stop at 6 months and Alfie is 6 months old today, but I'm aiming for a year now. I can think of lots of reasons to carry on bf but none to stop! Recommended weaning age at the mo is 6 months, I've just started to wean Alfie in the last week.

I am hoping that by the time he leaves for college we will have weaned. :)

We have made it this far, and I don't see Brennan weaning any time soon. There are days when I am just ready to stop, when we have a bad nursing session, but then we have a really great one, and I don't ever want to stop. We are trying to get pregnant again, so I will just have to wait and see what happens when I am pregnant. I am also open to the idea of unnursing him once the baby comes, if that will help with the transition.

Jack's just over six months old now. We started baby-led weaning last week, and it's been tonnes of fun! I love our breastfeeding relationship though, and I'm happy to feed him for as long as he wants. I've never once wanted to give up, and I had a minimum of one year as my original target, although now I'm happy to go on as long as he is. I'll be back at work in ten days, but I'm very lucky to work on a NICU that's letting me use one of their hospital-grade double pumps to keep my supply up and to make sure there's milk for Jack for when I'm at work. I already have just over 30oz tucked away in the freezer!

Aiming for 2 years or so. My original goal was 1 year but that's when I returned to work and she started part-time nursery. I'd already decided when she was about 6 months old that it would have been too much change for her. Plus there's was no way she was interested in self-weaning.

For selfish reasons I want to continue nursing her during her first winter at nursery as she's bound to pick up all sorts of illnesses and the breastfeeding should hopefully reduce the length and seriousness of the bugs.

I just want to nurse as long as I can, and for as long as little Bertie wants it. Thats my goal :cloud9:

I couldnt imagine giving up now at a year, Daphne is at the peak of her seperation anxiety and it's the only thing that helps her sleep when teething is really bad :)

i breastfed my son up until he was 11 months.
he never took a paci or a bottle after weening him he went straight to a sippy cup!
i think a yr is a good goal!

i BF my DD til 21 months and hopefully will be able to do at least the same with owen, though if things dont turn out according to plan then i wont beat myself up about it. he's a very hungry baby so we will probably wean before 6months but just simple foods til 6 months, like baby rice which the dr has said is the most inert food you can give.

It's been over a year now and she is more booby mad than ever! I'd like to get to 2 years but who knows?

I set different goals at eh start and am here now at 19 months and still going so I think I will until my son self weans and tantum feed with my second thats due soon.
