I have just changed Charlies milk from cow and gate 1 to cow and gate comfort, after giving it thought what you ladies said about the feeding problems I have been having, we changed her teets from vari flow ro meduim and fast, so we have 2 medium and 2 fast, which she seems to get on with very well....However we were still having problems getting her to take her bottle, so I rang my hv to see what she suggested and said to try the comfort milk, see how we get on, also to drop her bottles sown to 5oz as we are struggling for her to take 4oz every 4 hours.....I am also now thinking of changing her to 4 hourly feeds instead of 3 hourly, as she doesnt seem hungry after 3 hours.....So my question is, how long can I expect it to take for the comfort milk to make any noticeable difference, I started it yesterday afternoon so she has now been on it 24 hours and had 7 feeds of it......What sort of a difference can I expect too....Thanks for your replies in advance.....

It can take at least a week before the full effects of Comfort milk come into effect. For some babies it's longer than that, it really just depends on your LO.

Hope it helps her :hugs:

Hmmm ok, fingers crossed it will help her, I was wondering if it could be around a week...Im struggling with her really bad some days and gettin so stressed, if that all stops Ill be a happy mammy again.....

I was told to go at least two weeks to see the full changes of a formula change. Hopefully it'll help soon. :)

Ok thanks hun, so anything from 1 to 2 weeks is roughly what I am looking at then.....Thank you both.....

I had to swap my daughter onto cow and gate comfort and it took a couple of weeks to see an improvement. I had to put Jessica on it because HV thinks she has colic, she now screams less and seems generally happier, we also use it with the tommee tippee anti colic bottles. on the other side the milk also deals with constipation, Jessica wasn't constipated, so it made her poo really runny and oh my god it smelt so much worse, like boiled eggs! :haha: I think it takes a couple of weeks for the digestive system to get used to the milk as its easier to digest and now her nappies aren't quite so unpleasant a few weeks on! xxx

I was thinking about it before cause she suffers with trapped wind on occasions, apart from that shes ok. But last few weeks i struggle to get her to feed. So asked here and my hv, everyone saying the same to change her milk. Im hoping it works and we get back to some normality with feeds. Thank you. Helps having a bit of help, even though i have had 4 now some things are still new to me lol.

We put her on comfort milk and noticed a difference after about a week, however this was also the day we changed our bottles (from Avents to MAMs), so I don't know if it was the bottles or the milk that made the difference

It says on the box that you may notice your LO taking less feed, but because it's thicker, it fills them up quicker, so it's fine for them to take less. My LO went from 5oz feeds every 3 hours to 3oz every 3 hours. She's only been taking 18oz each day for about a month now, and she's still gaining weight. I just offer her more if she's still rooting after a bottle.

If you have problems with the milk being too thick for the teats, don't bother buying different teats for thicker liquid, because we tried looking for them and could hardly find any, and the ones we did find weren't big enough to let it through :dohh: My OH ended up biting little holes in the teats to make it bigger, and then she was sucking like a trooper

Is it really thicker, I had no idea lol, how stupid is that.....Maybe I should inverst in some more fast flow teats then.....Well last 3 days have been good so far, but I did switch to 4 hourly feeding today, which she seemed a lot more comfortable with.....

Hope it gets sorted soon hun. Have you ever thought about feeding on demand?
xx

I was doing feed on demand but she slipped right into the routine of 3 hourly, then I thought about trying demand feeding again, but she was only taking a small amount, but today she has demand fed every 4 ish hours....Hopefully we are getting somewhere....

Then just do it to what she demands hun, even if she doesn't demand it until 4 1/2 hours later at least you know she is wanting it :)
xx

This has become one of my biggest struggles. Im very anxious over how many bottles shes having and how much she is taking, almost obsessed over it. I cant really explain the anxiety except that i also worry if she doesnt wake up for feed, but this doesnt cause a problem over night. So over coming this hurdle is quite hard when she is feeding less. But we had a good day yesterday, except the medium flow teat she was struggling with, tried it again this morning and she still struggled with it this morning. So vari or fast from now on i think. However demand feeding is what im going to be trying again today, see how she gets on.
