In Canada (at least my province) the woman has an 8 week check. Your OB, or someone from their office will deliver the baby and they will remind you to call to make your check up. In my case, I had to call the office like 10 times. I kept getting the answering machine until finally I had to leave an annoyed message. I'm normally all passive and polite but enough was enough! lol I ended up getting sent to the hospital for an emergency ultrasound because I was still passing big clots. Turned out that was my first period.
Babies go in for a 4 week check up but mine had to go at 2 weeks because he had had bad jaundice so we needed to make sure it was cleared up.
