Hi all

My LO is 10 weeks old today and is formula fed, I struggle to get him to go 3 hours between feeds, it's usually 2.5 or 2.75 hours between.

Is this normal? as my mum keeps saying he should go 3 hours.

The thing is he only naps for half hour - 45 mins so he is up for a while before the next feed and I am not sure if this making him more hungry.

I am just intrigued to know what other bubba's of his age are doing.

He is now going down at 7.30 and wakes up once a night and gets up in the morning about 6 for his first feed.

My LO is 7 weeks and usually feeds every two hrs, but feeds less in the night x

My LO is 4.5 months and still feeds every 2.5-3 hours! She takes 5oz per feed and has porridge with her breakfast bottle and veg puree with her teatime bottle and still takes 5oz! Have tried too up her bottles too 6oz too try too make her go longer between feeds bit she wont take more than 5oz! She sleeps well at night tho 8-6 with one night feed and sometimes sleeps right thro so i dont mind frequent feeds throughout the day! x

My lo is only 2 weeks old but has always gone between 2.5 or 3 hours between feeds but she is breast fed.

Don't worry about their feeds. I know a little boy who is 5 months and goes 2 hours between feeds still and can take 6-8oz each feed! My LO has always gone 3 hours and occasionally 4 if she was asleep on me. She always took 4oz up to being 4.5 months old. She's now almost 6 months old and takes 6oz every 6 hours with solids on her 12pm feed. They have their own routine and if he's hungry, he's hungry hun. As long as the routine/pattern is the same then that's "normal" for your baby

:flow:

My LO is 10 weeks on Sun and will normally go about 3.5 hours between feeds. However, she still eats twice in the night so probably has the same number of feeds as your LO per day - I would much rather she was the same as your LO!

I'm lucky if my LO will go an hour between feeds!

My LO goes 2-3 hours between feeds and he has 5 and a half oz xo

mine is almost 9 weeks and she goes 1 to 3 hours. she could easily go three hours, hunger wise, but I nurse her to sleep and she needs to nap more often than every three hours! (and unfortunately her naps are only 35 minutes)

honestly I wish we had another way to get her to sleep! I think nursing to sleep annoys her as much as me. Sometimes she just isn't hungry :(

My LO is also 10 weeks and goes about 2.5-3 hours too. He also has a dream feed and another at 4am before waking about 730am. How much is your LO eating? Mine eats about 4oz on his day bottles and nearer 5oz at his 7pm, 11pm and 4am. I have tried upping his day feeds but he won't take it.

My lo is nearly 7 weeks and generally goes 4hrs between feeds but he takes 6oz each feed! Greedy little man :)

Thanks ladies, that is really helped, I will not worry anymore as long as he is happy.

As I said he goes 10.5 hours at night with only one feed which is usually only 3-4oz and in the day he takes 6oz although his last feed may only be 3-4oz again.

It's so tricky knowing what's the right thing to do especially with all the advice you get from everyone

xx

Amelia goes 4 hrs... And often at that point I have to offer rather than her asking for it. She takes 7oz though so a big feed for her age. She has 4 bottles a day.

We feed on demand however, except when she passes 4hrs as she STTN and I have to be sure she gets enough. We also fed my son on demand and he never went more than 2.5 hrs until he was weaned. He was a chunky baby as a result but is now a slim toddler so balanced out xx

Mine seems to be abnormal  He goes 3ish hours during the day sometimes less sometimes more but usually right on 3 hours. He has a dream feed at 10ish and can go from that time until 4:30 on a good night, 1/1:30 on a bad night.

But neither of my kids have been big eaters. Hannah would go hours and hours without eating and we'd have to just get on with it and feed her and sometimes even though it'd been hours she wouldn't take more than a couple of ounces . Rhys is a little more demanding with his feeds if we push to long but if we try to feed him before he's ready he downright refuses to eat anything at all. (we do feed on demand but sometimes it's hard to know if he's hungry or tired as the cues are very very similar with him!) I'd actually like him to either have more frequent feeds during the day so we could hopefully drop a night feed or take larger bottles but that hasn't happened yet

Mine goes 2-2.5 hours between a feed- 4oz-5oz per feeding. At night he does a 6 hour stretch, but then wants to be fed every hour after that lol!

she feeds pretty inconsistently...sometimes she'll go 2 hours maybe 3 or maybe even one. Sometimes she'll take 2 ounces and sometimes she'll take 4. We put her in her crib at 11 and she usually takes a 4 ounce bottle and she's up again at 1:30, 4:00 and 6:00. I'm hoping it gets better at night, even one feed less would be nice :)

Mine is 6 months and goes about 3 hours. Longer at night (recently started doing 8-9 hour stretch some nights WOOHOO) When he was younger it was always 2-2.5 hours, even at night. I think that's pretty normal :)

My son needed to be fed at least every 3 hours, he was a little and often man, even just before weaning he would rarely take more than 5-6ozs in one go. My daughter on the other hand (who is nearly 14 weeks now) goes 4 hours, sometimes longer, but will then take 6-7ozs in one go. All babies are different.
