How long should i expect to wait to bleed?

I had an hCG beta done Monday and it was 50, then 37 hours later it was 77 (doubling time of 58 hours), then 51 hours after that it only rose to 90 (doubling time of 226 hours).

I know this is a nonviable pregnancy. I was meaning to go to my doctor to schedule more 72 hour betas but i forgot they closed early on Fridays. It seems like every other day I am getting more and more pregnancy symptoms which is mentally/emotionally bothering me - I just want this to end so I can keep trying. How long can I expect these numbers to keep slowly crawling up before plummeting down? Or does it vary? Can this be an ectopic pregnancy with those kind of numbers? I am not spotting or cramping or anything. In fact, if I weren't peeing on FRERs and doing beta's i would have thought everything was going peachy.

Thank you.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! I don't know what to tell you. The loss doesn't typically occur until hCG levels actually start to drop, and I don't think there's really any for-sure formula as to when that will happen.

The female body can be cruel sometimes. :(

:hugs:

That's what I was thinking. I hate this waiting game. I had some spotting at 1am today but so far it seems to have stopped. I hope this is not an ectopic pregnancy.

You would know if it was ectopic, based on my understanding of it. The pain is excruciating.

The sac was growing slowly, so we checked HCG. Took 2 wks to go from 750 to 1,500. I started bleeding 4 days after the 1,500 result. So it took about 2.5 weeks to bleed after the sac stopped growing. I'm getting HCG tested tomorrow to see if it bottomed out yet (I've been bleeding for 10 days). My pregnancy symptoms didn't disappear until last week. I know the feeling of just wishing the numbers would drop and for it to be over. Anyway, yes, it totally varies. But this was my timeline. I really hope things speed along for you.

Hi sjackson. Sorry for your loss. It really varies for when bleeding will happen. I hope it happens soon for you so you can get it over and done with. Big hugs.

Im sorry for your loss. I was diagnosed with a MMC at 10 weeks, i had bleeding on and off for 2 weeks but repeat scan showed baby was still there so I had a D&C after 2 weeks of waiting as it was getting me down. Good luck xx

I would check with your doctor to completely rule out an ectopic. With my ectopic, I didn't have any pain/bleeding until a month after the HCG had started to drop. I knew the pregnancy was unviable because of the dropping HCG, so the doctors were monitoring my levels, but they didn't drop quickly enough and a month later I was in the ER in excruciating pain. Only then was I diagnosed with an ectopic and given methotrexate; it took another 3 days after that for the bleeding to begin. So, from when we found out we'd lost the baby (early September), it was over a month until I began to bleed (mid-October)... and even then, only with the help of drugs.

I would really encourage your doctor to monitor you very closely until you begin to bleed. Blood draws every couple of days if you have to.
