anyone help with this one- i get positive ov on cd 12 each month but i have a 30 day cycle so if you ov max of 2 days after positive reading how does it work cuz fs says you always take af 14 days after ov so i should be ov day 15. are the tests always right? or could I be taking longer to ovulate. I am annoyed now cuz I thought I had it covered this month b'd cd 9 12 and 14 but if i ov 16 did i miss it? thanks for reading , hope someone can help x

Do you chart with temps Glitter, this would help to establish exactly which day you O coz you don't get a substantial temp rise until after O. Hope you work it out and I'm sure you probably have covered the bases. By the way on average I have 16 days between O and AF. but a shorter time between AF up to O:hugs:

Sounds like you just have a longer Luteal Phase (1dpo till AF). Which is fine, that can just vary per woman. But seems like you are consistent with when you Ov... around CD14? If you get your first pos+ OPK on CD12... then your LP would be 16dpo. Which is totally fine. I think most sites just state what is the "average"- but this can vary greatly by woman.

Here is a site with some good info on the Luteal Phase :)

Best of luck hun!!!

thanks so much ladies have helped to put my mind at rest.
Nise i did try to temp but always was up in the mornings before I remembered to take temp lol so pretty useless at it!
Seoj- thanks for the info I always thought it was always 14 days from ov to af or so my doc told me so good to know xx

If you're looking at how long it would take after ov to get af you should simply count the days after you ov (which is universally known as day after positive ov test) until you get af and that would give you your luteal phase.

If you are worried about whether or not you ovulate the temping advice will go a long way, otherwise you are looking at day 21 test (also known as progesterone test to check for ovulation).

So in closing, if you get a + ov test on cd 12 but have a 30 day cycle you would be looking at a very long luteal phase, roughly 17 days ( which is normally considered between 10 -16 days, however some fertility specialists like it to be no shorter than 12 days and no longer than 14) It has all to do with the lining of the uterus and is optimal health.

It doesnt so much matter whether you actually have sex on ov day as sperm needs to be present before that and studies show more people get pregnant from sex before ov than actually on the ov day. So if you had sex all the days previous to ov i wouldn't really worry too much - i should know, i got pg from sex 2 days before ov once :)

Hope any of this help!

:hugs: Omi xxx
