With my son my water broke at 35+5 - I heard a loud pop, leaped off the bed and there was a HUGE gush. It soaked my pants and the entire floor. My labor started after walking and climbing stairs for 4h at the hospital LO was born the next day.

No clearout though!

My waters broke at 40+4 days with my son and that was the very first thing to happen. I was laying down in bed and it wasn't a massive gush but it was still a fair bit of fluid. Contractions started within 5 minutes and less than 7 hours later, my son was born!

I had clear outs for 4ish days and then my waters went randomly. I didn't get any contractions or niggles until an hour later. They were like a water fall and I was 39 weeks exactly.

With my son they broke my waters while in labour to try get me to progress abit quicker but with my little girl Id been in labour about 4hours and they started to trickle down my leg by the time I got to the hospital and got out of the car the gushed all over lol x

I had a 'show' on the Thursday evening (38 weeks) then went to bed, i got up to pee at 1am on the Friday morning and my waters broke on the way to the bathroom. I heard and felt a pop and there was a gush and then a constant stream from then until the end of labour really- it was crazy how much fluid was in there! Mild contractions started about an hour/90 mins after my waters broke.

I didn't have any kind of 'clearout' like i hear people talk about though I think i pooped the evening before (maybe when i had my show actually) and then i remember i had to go to the toilet in early labour the next day when we were at the hospital but it wasn't loose or anything.

Waters broke after 1.5 hours of pushing, right before DD was born. No clear out beforehand.

Mine went naturally, about an hour before I started having contractions (I gave birth the same day).

I also had awful bowel movements a few hours into early labour (along with contractions, was not nice!) and then projectile vomiting when I was about 5cm dilated!

Mine broke with both of my kids and I am hoping will break again with this one... also, I did have more bowel movements leading up to the break with both, matter of fact, almost diarrhea like with my 2nd and my water broke while on the toilet! So yeah, it can vary and happen...

Do you mind me asking why you're hoping they'll break again this time?

I am really hoping mine DON'T go at the start of labour again- the longer the membranes stay intact the better as far as i'm concerned!

Im hoping mine break before labour too, for me its so that i know that she is well and truly on her way and that even if contractions dont start naturally il be having her soon, If my waters didnt go prior to labour i dont think id really believe i was in labour until it got to the point were my body was pushing for me, i had a false start with DD and had a false start with this 1 too so id have contractions and think it was another false start lol! xxx
