How many ounce should baby be having????

he's 2 week and 4 days old and weighs 9lb2, 2 days ago he was drinking 3oz every 2 hours but for the past 2 days he's only taking 1andhalf-2oz is this enough for him? and when do i need to start uping his feed x

All babies are different but a rough guide is 2.5oz per lb of body weight in a 24hr period - so if your baby weighs 10lb they should get approx 25oz in 24 hrs. So your 2oz every 2 hrs sounds about right - he may have been having a growth spurt 2 days ago when he was eating more. As long as you are getting lots of wet and dirty nappies and he is gaining weight well at his checkups then I wouldn't worry.

thanks, were getting plenty of wet and dirty nappies!! i thought it was something to do with his medication hes having nystan for thrush on his tongue, he's been a little bit sicky xx
