has everyone had/having?

My doctor said he will keep mine down to a few because scans annoy and irritate the baby and you shouldn't get more than you actually need.

I don't know if it is common in the US (I guess it is) but he told me 3 is the usual. 12 weeks, 20 weeks and the third I have no idea when I guess maybe 30'ish weeks? . Anyway I have already had 3 I had an emergency one early on what about everyone else?

I had one at 5 weeks 3 days due to bleeding and one at 8 weeks to check up on bleeding. Then I had one at 11 weeks for the measurements. I will get another next week for the anatomy scan. So I will end up with a total of 4 unless they do more.

I have had.
1, @6 wks due tp cramping and spotting ( only an empty sac seen)
2, @7 wks to re check after the 1st one ( sac, yolk sac AND fetal pole seen)
3, @10 wks (this was my booking in scan but a combination of little baby wrigglin and something going wrong with the scanner meant unable to date)
4, @ 13 weeks which showed me to be measuring exactly to my dates

I will have a further one at almost 22 wks ( anom scan)
and then poss another at my last hospital appt to check the position of the baby before reaching full term.

I've had one at 11+2 and one at 20+2.
I was told I need more because my baby is big. lol!

Here is Canada we generally get 2, unless they have reason to do more due to prior complications etc. I had one at 11 weeks and again at 19 weeks. They weren't able to get all the measurements at my 19 week scan, so they did book me in for a 3rd one when I'm 26 weeks.

I had an early scan at 8 weeks because I had some spotting.
I had my bookng scan at 10 weeks
And my big scan today at 20w 4days.

Do we get another one in the uk or is that it?

I had ..
1.@ 6weeks..due to bad pains to rule out ectopic
[email protected] to bleeding and pains
3.@12+4..due to pains..(suspected ependicitus/problems with bubs)
4.@12+6..my 12 week NHS scan
5.@16+4..private gender scan
still to come......!!
6.@19+4..rescan to double check gender
7.@20+2..anomaly scan NHS scan
gee that seems alot lol xx

I've had way more than usual, due to complications at beginning.

4weeks due to OHSS (from IVF)
8weeks for confirmation
12weeks NT scan
20weeks (coming up)
and I believe he has mentioned a few more for close monitoring, because my ovaries are still very swollen.

i had one at 10+5 and one at 20+2. thats it unless theres any problems

I have had one every 2 weeks since 16 weeks and will have one every 2 weeks from now till induction.
I had 3 before 16 weeks.

I did notice at the beginning my baby seemed to be irritated by them too. I am sick of them now as they bring nothing but stress to an already stressful situation.

I've had 3 already. Im high risk, so I'll probably get at least 3 to 4 more.

1 @ 4 1/2 weeks - seen sac
2 @ 6w2d - seen baby with heartbeat
3@ 11w5d - seen our precious baby with strong heart beat at 159bpm

I might get another on friday, but if they wont be able to tell the sex... I'd rather wait until Im 20 weeks.

I'm in Canada...and initially for my first they said one (at 19 weeks). But, I had so many with him...I don't even know. I had my first at 13 weeks when I had severe bleeding...and was diagnosed with complete previa. After that...I had regular scans to check the placenta. I was also in a car accident at 5mths, and they couldn't find his heart beat...so I had a scan...then a couple more to check in the following days. Overall, I had probably well over 10.

With my daughter, I had one at 8 weeks, to confirm the date of conception. Then I had one at 19 weeks, and then I had several more because I had insulin-dependent gestational diabetes. My last one was at 34 weeks, where they were finally able to say she was a girl (they never saw before).

This pregnany I have had two so far, and I have one booked for 21 weeks.

ive had 3 so far 1 at 8 weeks because of bleedin my 12 week book in scan 1 at 17 weeks because i fell downstairs altho z i was 18 weeks and 4 days will have another at 21 weeks and another at 28 weeks... hopefuly if nothiing goes wrong thats all ill have but who knows...i didnt know scas were harmful/ irrated baby :S

I have had 4 so far. One at 5w6d, 7w1d, 12w6d and 18w5d. I go back for another scan on the 20th pf April and every 2 weeks there after. I have a lot though b/c I'm very high risk. These are growth scans.

i've had 3, & that's likely to be my lot.
a private early scan at 7 weeks.
dating scan at 12 weeks.
anomoly scan at 20 weeks.
xx

I had one at 12+2 (dating/ nuchal) and 20+2 (anomaly) but have a couple more scheduled at 28 and 36 weeks due to an extra trial I'm in at the hospital

I am 17+3 and have had so far:

12+1: dating/booking scan.
13+2: scan with consultant as booking scan found I was havng twins.
14+5: scanned when I had to go into the delivery suite as my waters around one twin went
14+6: scan to check what was going on
15+1: scan to check everything before I was dicharged from hospital
15+5: scan to check for heartbeats
16+2: scan at consultant's appointment
17+2: scan at consltant's appointment.

So that is 8 so far, and I am now being scanned at least weekly, when I see the consultant, until I deliver, which will probably be well before term, but hopefuly after 24 weeks, hopefully a lot after... I'll also have my anomoly scan at 21 weeks.

One of the babies has kicked hard a couple of times during scans, but they are medically necessary really, and also help give my husband and I peace of mind that both babies are still OK and what is going on in there with regards to fluid levels.

I've had 2 so far and will have one more at 20 weeks. I had and emergency trans-vaginal scan @ 11 weeks because of pain, NT scan @ 12 weeks and will have the NHS Anomaly scan @ 20 weeks.

I was reading an article in this months Prima Baby magazine (April, page 16) warning about the dangers on un-necessary scans. Basically it was saying that scans done for diagnostic purposes by the hospital were fine but that you shouldn't have additional "souvenir" scans privately, because there are unconfirmed reports that they can pose neurological risks to the baby.

Please don't anyone shout at me, I'm not saying this is my opinion I'm just relaying the article that I read about it yesterday. :hugs:

1 at 11 weeks, 13 weeks, and 20 weeks
