I'm using SMA for my 6 week old. On the back of the tin it says:

2 to 4 weeks - 4 scoops
2 months - 5 scoops

.. what about from 4-8 weeks then? are you meant to just use your initiative to work out if your baby is ready for more? because i think he is but obviously i dont want to give him the extra scoop if its gonna make him sick?

help!

The tin is just a guideline, Kacie was on 5 ounces from about 5-6 weeks if I remember correctly. Just offer him an ounce more and see if he takes it or not. I wouldn't of thought it would make him sick, I always offer one ounce more anyway, and if Kacie has it she has it, if not then I don't worry. If you think he's ready try it, your his mum, you know best.. not the tin

It's just a guide as to how much they will need, Joe has always taken more than it says til now, when he's on 5 x 7oz bottles a day at 4 months and he's on cow & gate.
If he takes a full bottle, then I would up it by 1 oz and see how it goes. He will spit up anything that he doesn't want or stop drinking x

thanks ladies, im gonna try him with the extra oz and see how it goes xx

If its sma gold make it up 1 scoop to 30ml water-if you change the ration water:formula then babba can get constipated or not be gettinbg enough nutrition.

As to how many ml per feed then ignore the tin and feed him what he'll eat!

Feed on demand/according to your schedule not to the tin.

I feed on demand, but I dont go for more than 4 oz per feed, although it says on the tin to go for 5 oz at his age. My LO's stomach is very sensitive & he is suffering from colic, if I feed him more he's thow up immediately.

I was always told if baby is finishing the bottle then try another oz

If he doesn't want it he will just leave it (or spit it back out).

But make sure you're adding more water too not just more formula xxx
