We did a really small christening as my family isn't catholic but DHs are huge Irish Catholics. Only immediate family were invited and of course the godparents. We had lunch back at the house after and had it catered. So:

So really rather cheap. We spent more on SS bday party!

So far...

We got some invitations reduced from £5 for 6 to 25p!!!! So £1.50 on invitations.

Church - free

Venue - £60

Cake and cupcakes - £30 (buying ingredients, family member is a cake maker)

Outfit - around £30

Let's see...

Church space $0
Priest to officiate ~$250 'donation'
Lunch for 25 family members $500
Handsome gown ~$150 (paid for by my mother though)
And then we stayed in a hotel for a night as christening was out of town ~120

People probably spend more than that at certain milestone birthdays?

We're having a dedication at a church where we attend once a month.

Church: Free
Venue: Free (upstairs of the church!)
Food: Not sure on this one yet, shouldn't be too much, suspect a lot of the church will help out
Cake: 45 quid a lovely cake from M and S which will actually be free for us, paid for as a present
Dress: May put her in something we already have or buy her a nice dress from TK Maxx...probably a max price of 30 quid.

We are having a joint christening for our 2 next Sunday and it's costing around £600 but my parents and hubby's parents are chipping in:

Church - free but will make a donation
Village hall hire - £78
Cake - £115
Outfits - £35
Food and drink - £350
Decorations, napkins, plates, invitations etc - £50

It was 2 years ago since my daughter got christened, and we are having our son christened in 2 weeks time......

We had folk back to our house for food/drink afterwards - around 45 folk.

I have not got anything arranged for his christening but for hers costs were around....

dress- £40
food/drink/cake - £250
church - free but gave donation of £40

Costs will be roughly same this time, but maybe more as I am a lot less organised and with only 2 weeks to go I better get a move on!!:flower:
