How much do you get pumping?

Kellymom has some good information about increasing pumping output:

There is more about let down here:

If I leave it 4 hours I will get prob up to 8oz off both, but pumping alot I will get less more often. If I leave a good 7 or 8 hours (overnight) I can get up to 10-12 oz off.

I went out of town and forgot my pump and trying to feed him directly from the breast is really hard, think I have pretty flat nipples and since he has been using a bottle it just becomes very difficult. I was only gone for 24 hrs but it killed when i got home. And after being super engorged and in pain I only got four ounces. I feel so guilty when I have to use formula. Isn't some breastmilk better than none? I read posts like the one above me and wonder how the hell people can get that much?

At first I struggled with just an ounce or two but it gets better with practice and after a couple of months I could knock a full big bottle up in 20mins first thing in the morning before I fed baby in just 20mins:thumbup:. That was with the Avent handpump.

Now further down the line I've started to get out of the habit of expressing and also Erin is weaning so not feeding as often....I struggle to get an ounce or two again:cry::cry::cry:. It's quite normal for it to vary, try and alternate what time you express to see what's best for you:hugs:

I'm hoping it'll increase because right now it's almost like half the time it's formula because it takes me 3 times to get enough for one feed! I just can't believe I'm only getting an ounce. Fingers crossed it'll increase soon!
