How much effort does your baby make?

LO is 12 weeks old, and has been breastfeeding for a little over 3 weeks.

He doesn't ever root around, or seek the nipple. I position him and stick it in his mouth, but he doesn't do anything, just lies there and smiles.

Is this normal?

I had this problem at the beginning too, I was never sure why she did it but she did grow out of it. Not much of a help, sorry
