Was just wondering how much people are paying for flowers? Luckily our venue comes with flowers arrangements for all the tables but going to have to get our own church flowers.
I looked on florist sites in the area and they charge £100 for bridal bouquets and £70 for bridesmaids... i've got 5 bridesmaids!! Lol also need buttonholes and mothers corsages and maybe a spray of flowers for the church as the main decoration in the church is going to be the pew end ribbons in our colours.

Have some of you mix and matched fresh and artifical? Like fresh for bride and buttonholes but artificial for bridesmaids? I looked on asda and they do really nice wedding flowers at a fraction of the cost of florists.

Would love some insight into what you ladies are doing as i'm pricing things up now and need to put them into our budget. I'm thinking a Phalaenopsis White Orchid bouquet for me of some sort. Nice and simple.

Thankyou kindly :) xxx

The prices mentioned above were just under what I paid per bouquet. Think that's the norm hun. Artificial is cheaper, but sometimes they look cheaper in photos too x

I'll give you a comparison between a shop quote I got and a lady who does it from home (therefore no overheads to pay for)

Shop

Bridal bouquet - 95
Bridesmaids - 65
Flowergirl - 30
Buttonholes - 6 each
Thank you bouquets - 40 each
Pedestals - 120 each
Top table arrangement - 100
Tablecentres - for small cube vases filled with flowers - 40
Flowers for cake - 40

Home based florist

Bridal bouquet - 55
Bridesmaids - 40
Flowergirl - 20
Buttonholes - 5 each
Thank you bouquets - 30 each
Pedestals - 100 each
Top table arrangement - 90
Tablecentres - for large vases or candelabras - 40
Flowers for cake - 20

Maybe worth a look to see if you have any home based florists near you?

Booflebump thankyou soooooo much that is such a great help! It really makes a difference savings like that, i am going to get on it now and start investigating home based florists. Yaaay. xxxx

Booflebump how did you search for home based florists i've done a search and it's just shops that come up.

I don't know the exact breakdown for each item but we are paying £470 for:

* Bridal bouquet
* 1 Bridesmaid
* 1 Flowergirl
* 1 long & low (top table)
* 2 Thankyou bouquets
* 2 'button holes' - female (mothers)
* 1 Groom buttonhole
* 6 ushers/bestman/fathers button holes
* 2 page boy button holes

This also includes delivery of flowers to 3 different locations before wedding, then also pick flowers up from church after wedding and transfer to reception venue

you have to also remember that the price does vary depending on what flowers you pick also

As a florist I really feel sorry for you brides the price the flowers are to be imported are next to nothing.

Anyways have a look at a local college see if they have any flower arranging groups you might be able to pick a lady or 2 up to do them as part of there course

Just an idea

I spoke to a really nice florist today and her bridal bouquets are £55 and bridesmaids are £35 that's more like it :)
I would love a shower bouquet of Phalaenopsis Orchids and a woman emailed me saying these are expensive because you pay for them by the head and not by the stem and the woman i spoke to today said that was a load of rubbish they are slightly more expensive flowers but you pay for them by the stem just like the other two types of orchids, frankie can you shed some light on this?
Thanks Frankie that's a really handy tip how do people who are learning get the flowers imported cheaply do they get taught which suppliers to go to on their course.

I mean just an idea for you if you didnt want to pay the mark up fee on flowers a local group might do them.

Orchids are lovely so are birds of paradise but the general rule of thumb the more exotic the flower the more the florist can charge you.

When I worked as a florist during valentines day we had the cheapest red roses imported from Amsterdam and sold them on for more than 100 times the value so something that cost 7p became £7.00.

Im doing my own flowers im just going to keep it simple itl give me something to do on the Friday

I bought my own flower stuff and have got OH's aunt to make them up for me ... but I was looking at this site and everything looks lovely and really cheap too grooms buttonholes from £3.50!!
